Lamb's wool or microfiber?

I have a Craftsmen orbital buffer that can use both real lamb's wool or microfiber bonnets. Not knowing what quality the mf was I bought the lamb's wool. For buffing synthetic wax/sealant off is this ok?

Don't use wool ...it's too abrasive. I believe wool pads are made for buffing out serious paint damage not removing wax. There are solutions you can use when you wash that will dissolve the wax without harming the paint.

You may have meant buffing the wax residue off during the wax application process not removing wax in the sense of removing old wax to prepare for polishing or paint correction. In any event, the answer is the same -- don't use the wool -- certainly not with an orbital.

"buffing synthetic wax/sealant off"... hummm... use your MF towel and do it by hand. no need to use RO's for this process.

if you're burnishing wax (as in natural wax, not polymer sealants) use a very soft foam pad on your RO.

Actually I was going to apply by hand (Adam's foamy) and remove with the buffer. Is that bad?

I do the reverse. I use my dual action with a soft red pad to apply the wax in a very thin coat. Then I remove it by hand. Since the coat is thin, it's a breeze. If you put it on by hand, you may put it on too thick to remove it easily with your buffer. Plus it's annoying to having to change bonnets -- they get saturated quickly.

Never used "the foamy" you mention, but there is probably plenty of info on the Adam's site about the best ways to apply and remove it. You can also check out http://www.autopia.org/ ....plenty of good info there

Typically the microfiber bonnets they sell for those 10" craftsman polishers is very low quality and could just as easily introduce damage as take off the wax. If you are bent on using the machine for removal check the trick in this video out (jump to about the 12:00 mark)
