Chips ... not the delicious type
hey guys,
I bought a 370 with 30,000km on it and am planning on re-spraying the front end and then covering it entirely with 3M. But for the time being, until I have the $ to do so, I need advice on waxes. I thought the hood was in excellent condition but a week after waxing it I have noticed white dots (from the wax I am assuming on areas that are the clear coat is chipped, again assuming) I know very little on paint and maintinance, so any advice is appreciated. Cheers Radek |

if your paint is chipped wax isn't really going to help. been reading really good reviews about dr color chip. Dr.ColorChip Custom Automotive Touch-Up Paint Kit - Dr. ColorChip: Automotive Paint Chip Repair Systems it fills in the chips pretty nicely from what ive heard.

Did you clean the surface off before applying new wax?
Here are the basic steps. I won't go into detail, because there are plenty of threads on here already. 1. Wash car, no need to dry. 2. Clay Bar w/Quick Detailer. Alot of surface spots are actually rust spots so this step could get rid of them. Use the baggie test to see if the paint is truly clean. 3. Paint Repair (Flex or DA Machine Polishing is Best). Start with the least abrasive first. If required, then course polish and then back to fine. This will get most, if not all swirls and scratches to the clearcoat. 4.Apply "Glaze" (optional). This will only last a few weeks, but it hides some of the imperfections you couldn't remove. Also leaves a deep "wet" shine. 5.Apply a good quality Wax to protect. The stuff in retail stores aren't all that great. I've tried just about all of them, from Turtle Wax to Meg's. Most of the good stuff can be purchased on line. Post some pics so we get a better understanding.
