When polishing, tape off edges of lights, etc., with painter's tape?

Is that the right tape to use? I'm going to use a DA polishing machine.
edit: searched autopia's machine polish forum quickly and for "tape" and there were topics about it but none stood out as what type to use, so figured I'd just ask

Yes painters tape. Tape up anything that's soft.
