Is this safe?
I need to strip the wax off of my car before it gets wrapped and I was looking for a product to help me do this besides clay bar and dawn dish soap. i found something called tar and wax remover made by rustoleum.
Has anyone used this before? Is it safe? Thanks! |
The clay bar and dawn dish wash should be enough.
The Wax & Tar remover is really for isolated areas where you need a little extra power to remove stuff like decal residue. |
Also, a good installer will use product to prep the surface prior to installation as well.

the only parts you have to take the wax of is the roof and the doors we stripped everything else off for the new stuff. the most you may want to do is take a cleaner/acetone to the new parts to clean them off prior to wrapping.

A mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol (available at any grocery or drugstore) and water (about 2:1) will strip wax. You can simply spray it on the area and wipe with a clean microfiber towel. It will also remove any polishing oils, glazes, etc that might be on the surface.
Also like was mentioned any good installer will prep the surface as well. |
