hey all sorry I'm late to this, but this is the real deal.
it does work, we have been using the pro version and 2.0 version of this since last year. we have coated many customers vehicles as well as our own. we have found this coating to work extremely well on wheels. if you guys are interested maybe I should do a group buy on this. Opti Coat V2

Phil, i'm curious about the Aquartz Titanium vs the Opti-coat... the Aquartz vids all show it to be quite a hard finish. How long does it last and does it stay slick the whole time that it does last?

I also am interested in possibly using the Opti-coat. I've read mixed reviews about it though... not many bad ones.. just some people that have had some issues with it. I've also just read a thread in which a detailer that was using aquartz and was having issues with oily residue and streaking which I don't like to read about a product obviously. |

The issue I found with the Powerlock is I had applied it to some panels on the car, but not all. It had a week to cure on those and I started in on finishing the top, hood and tail with the swirl and haze remover and then the Finish polish with the porter cable Saturday. The finish polish with a little detail spray can make a mess if you are not careful, and I was not in some areas and released a sputter of polish on my shirt and on the top of the fenders and door, as well as the back bumper.
They did not come off with the wash, and they did not come off again with a MF cloth and the detail spray. I do not want to Rub on them too hard and scratch the paint. I am now out there with what is left of my thumbnail trying to push them off and pick them up with the MF. Maybe I should try some cleaning solution? Anyway, my point is bug guts or a little polish splatter should just wipe off with this sealer. I planned on another coat and after the cure time and some Buttery wax. We'll see how it works after the wax. Btw, I do not detail for a living and have little experience with the polisher, but know exactly what you mean on the Porter cable and lack of torque. This was especially true with the finish polish because I had to use speed 4 just to keep the stuff from flying around after a spritz of detail spray to keep things lubed up and moving. Just a small amount of pressure and the disc is no longer spinning.

Do you have any cleaner wax by chance? If not then just get it off with your finger nail and polish the area and reapply some other sort of protection if not the powerlock. If you had any Klasse all in one i'd say try it, as the cleaners in it seem to take most stains and such I have encountered right off. Maybe the sealant is pretty hard stuff after all? lol.
Like I said though, I never have tried it though and i'm not that interested in trying it. I have many sealants and waxes that I like.. I just stick with them for now. |

Sorry late reply, didnt read the whole thread as its long now and im lazy. Anyways I had opticoat applied today to my black Z. I got pics and will start a threat on it. I cant get the car wet for 12hrs. Cant wash it for 3 weeks. Preferable to park in sun to help opticoat cure up good and hard. I had it applied for $525 over here in Australia (im sure its cheaper there) with an annual check up of $55 which includes an exterior detail and inspection. Is goes on like a liquid polish but flashes dry and then you even it out with a MF cloth. It is touch dry within a few minutes. It doesnt hide any blemishs to your paint so you may been a paint correction 2 stage buff. My 370 is new and has 300km on it and has spider swirls from the dealer. The guy said dont worry about a correction just go over the opticoat in 3 weeks with a filler polish or paint cleaner that has a filler in it. Once it gets wet I can let you know how it goes if you'd like. If ive missed something let me know. |

Ive got a black 370. Had opticoat put on the day after I picked it up new. I did a thread on the australian forum if youre interested. Its been 2 weeks and still waiting for it to harden up a bit more. So far ive just coated it in foam and hit it with the pressure washer and EVERYTHING came off. Beads like crazy so had to use the sheeting trick to get most of the water off and dabbed the rest off. After the 3 weeks of proper cure time ill add the polishes and wax to give a bit more protection and shine. Bird crap just mists off with a spray bottle, found that out as 4 hours after it was put on a bird shat on it and I freaked and rang the guy who put it on and he told me what to do. You wont regret it man, gives the car a wet look.
Took about 3-4 hrs to put on the Z. opticoat paint protection. - Interior / Exterior - Zclub - Australia's Largest Nissan 370Z and Nissan 350Z Forum |
