I hate people!!! Whats involved in fixing this?
Today I looked at my car and noticed that on the driver side of the rear bumper within a 1 foot x 1 foot area is completely scraped up, as if a car was pulling in or out of a parking space and grinded against the side of my car. It had to have happened within the last 2 days.
I would try to take a picture but don't know how well it will show up, it's pretty noticeable in the light. The majority it is about 8 or 9 long inches of many light scratches close together that may be able to be buffed out with a lot of work. Then there is a quarter sized piece of paint that completely chipped off and a 6 inch deep gash which took all the paint off. Also took a large portion of the paint off the splash guard. All of this damage is contained within a 1ftx1ft area and only on the rear bumper panel. Pisses me off so much how someone could do that to someone elses property and just take off, now I'm stuck paying for it. I've taken very well care of my Z within the 2 years I've owned it. I'd love to confront or catch whoever did this in the act... But anway, does anyone know what it sounds like will be involved in fixing this? Am I going to have to replace the entire bumper? |
Sounds like some proper prep work and a local respray with a blend in job should fix it.

dude that same exact thing happend to me the 2nd time my Z was in a hit and run. First time i caught the person but cops wouldnt do anything. The 2nd time it looked like someone was pulling into a parking spot next to me on my left side and took the left/rear corner of my bumper and took the paint off of it.
Hard to see but u can see the black marks where it went right past the primer http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...bdbe3dd7_b.jpg Would have cost me $2300 to fix but i took the 2 hit and runs and my gf smashing the car into my bike as a sign and sold the car and never fixed it. |

Yah sounds like it will need to be professionally repaired. :( on my dd (quite a bit of scrapes from people hitting it, snow shovels scrapped by careless workers) I polished using my random orbital and touched it up with paint...its not perfect but no one can tell from 4-5ft away..but I don't think I would be happy with that on my Z.. take it to a bodyshop.

The same thing happened to my Z about two weeks ago. I just had a company fix it three days ago and then they finally wet sanded the bumper today. Here is a before and after. Cost $225. Paint match is great. I fixed the dented bumper myself with a heat gun, so paint was all that the company did for my car.

Much better, that sucks someone did that in the first place. So how much of the dent were you able to get out with just the heat gun?
