Okay so a while back I used Turtle Wax ICE All Wheel and Tire Cleaner. Do not use this product. I used it on my 19" Ray Wheels and I noticed it left this cloudy look to the rims. Then later I started to see these black marks on my rims. Some blotches and some long streaks. Even in the areas of the lug nuts. It was smooth to touch so it wasn't road rash or some fresh road stuck to the rim. So I took it to Nissan and after a few weeks talking to the factory rep. and sending photos off to Nissan HQ it was determined to be a chemical burn and not a factory defect so in turn Nissan was going to do nothing about it. I am debating on chroming the wheels or powder coating.

First never use anything by Turtle Wax.

Second send them a damage feedback, I heard they have owned up to damage by their products before. Turtle Wax - Contact Us

Third go to detailersdomain and pick up some Sonax FE for future use. (use the forum discount)

Fourth depending on how much the damage is, pick up some polishes and a powerball and start polishing... (hopefully the damage isn't bad enough that you have to wet sand, because that's a real pain on wheels)

The OEM wheels are painted. If you have black showing through that is the underlying coat. I know because I had road rash and used some 4000 grit sand paper……more black appeared after the sanding.

Better to paint or powder coat and go for that new wheel look :tup:

Interesting. I have been using ICE on my Roush 227r, vette and 370z for quite a while with no issues at all.

I've been using Turtle Wax Cleaner Wax on my Benz for years. No issues. Just sayin'. :tiphat:

The issue should relate to the wheels only imo. The wheels are painted and people don't think they are by the finish so using cleaners ruin them and need to be refinished. Like Nikon FM stated. I personally just use a soft sponge

This is a common issue with some OTC products. One that I use to use, Eagle 1 Wheel Cleaner was excellent at cleaning wheels. It would remove every drop of dirt, brake dust, you name it. The only problem was, it ate the chrome off my wheels. I know better now.

Some of these OTC products use some seriously aggressive chemicals in their products to clean effectively. The only problem is that your high quality equipment doesn't always like being treated with those kinds of chemicals. You have to be careful with what you use on your paint and wheels. All that glitters is not gold.

i stay away from turtlewax and armorall. they do more damage than good.
