Noo b q
I have 500 miles on my '11 Z. the first wash and wax is quickly approaching. Is there anything I need to do before the first wax? Is there a factory wax or polish that needs to be removed?
Thanks guys, this site is one of the reasons why I bought a Z ! |
Polish and sealant (Klasse) it will help prevent chips in the paint and a clear bra

Yes follow Junkman's tips on how to wash it.
On a new car I would do a one time wash with Dawn just to strip of whatever might be on there. Feel if the car needs any claying, again just click here: http://www.the370z.com/detailing-was...r-process.html, Junkman did a very detailed write up about it. Though for the actual technique you can go a little lighter then Junkman does. His way is very effective, but if it's the first time your claying you might want to take it a bit slower to make sure you don't do anything unwanted to the paint. Then see if your car needs any polishing to get out any swirls or minor scratches that the dealer might have put in there. If so polish them out (research your products for the job here). Then I would (did) clearbra the car, but that's up to you. And then add some sealant/wax to finish up the job (again look around the internet to learn about all the different ones available). |
thanks guys. I will watch the junkman vids. I have a good system that i used on previous vehicles. But this is my first new car. I didnt think if it was safe to assume the factory didnt apply some kind of wax or protectant before sending it to the dealers.

I clayed lighter than Junkman does the first time. The second time I scrubbed the crap out of the car with the clay. Man what a difference. Scrub hard the first time and save some of the elbow grease later.
I then did the whole Junkman process and am finally swirl free, mine came fairly swirled from the dealer. A couple of scratches in the clear coat that I will spend some more time on, but other than those area the paint is glass. |
