370Z winter prep

I winter prepped my Z today. After washing I spot clayed it then machine polished it with Optimum Poli-seal then topped with Optimum Car Wax. Poli-seal cleans very nicely and lays down a good sealant as well. When topped with Optimum Car Wax it looks great and has very good durability as well. Sorry only inside pics as it was dark when I finished.

The Z looks awesome! If you are going to be topping up the OCW regularly, you will be fine but standalone durability on OCW is not as good as a durable sealant or hybrid wax/sealant for winter protection.

You look like you have a garage so you should be in good shape!

good job. for my hobby cars i dont drive in the rain/snow so i only use Griot's SprayOn wax at best and just keep reapplying as needed these days. the surface so slick if you put a drop of water on the hood it will just roll right off with no residue. :p

As for clay i only spot clay once a year or once every 2yrs. i rarely get any comtaminants bond to the paint as i QD pretty much after each drive. :)

ive pretty much decided not to use any 'wax' or 'sealant' type products as it's over kill for my cars...and just use spray products (mainly Griot's SprayOn Wax, SpeedShine). for my dd's different story. i use polymers for them. :)

Thanks. As far as OCW it has pretty good durability. I get a couple of months out of it with my customers cars. Now I do put two coats on which makes a huge difference. OCW is a hybrid Wax/Sealant. There are better choices for durability, but when you consider ease of use and time, OCW is hard to beat. Also with the Opti-seal first it gets great durability.

I look after mine about the same way. You should try OCW as it takes only minutes to do the whole car with great results and good durability. I use OCW after every 2-3 washes, so nothing sticks and it beads like a mother. I also QD regularly. I have found that OCW works great on the rims as well. When ever I do the car I do the rims. I never get anything stuck to my rims. I can pretty much rinse them clean.

OCW's a polymer or wax? I dont like using polymer on my silver cars as it makes them super reflective like plastic.

It is a polymer sealant with high grade carnauba wax. Because of the wax content it does not have a plastic look. It looks more like a carnauba wax. Here is a like to the product. I hope this works.
