wow, polishes are abrasives in my mind... you guys from the 70's and 80's need to up your terminology.

That was the same confusion I had when I first started using Zaino. Sal's terminology had me all confused. I came to realize that his products and terminology were a little different than the industry norm. Nothing wrong with that as he has a very good product.

Does Clay Bar help fill in the "orange peel" of the Nissan paint? Or does the product just help hold the wax better?

clay bar, when used correctly, helps remove contaminants from the clear coat. its done before any polishing or waxing.

Not in the slightest or your wildest imagination. Claying paint leaves absolutely nothing behind on the car to "fill" anything. As a matter of fact, it REMOVES any type of filling product that may be on the car. Look at it like dish soap. It cleans the dishes and you rinse every drop of the soap off. Nothing is left behind.

The only thing that fixes orange peel is wet sanding and there is no where near enough clear coat on your car's factory paint to remotely think about doing that. I speak from experience with the Z's paint on this one.. If you want a orange peel free paint job, have your car professionally painted by a custom paint shop. Dealerships do NOT do this type of painting.

I'm with Junk on this... a few years ago you could easily get away with a wet sand on factory paint if you were careful, but as more an more manufactures migrate to water based (environmentally friendly) paints and try to maximize profits be reducing overhead (translation: use less paint per car) the paint is so thin that sanding it is a risky and often time bad idea.

I was working on a black 2010 Altima maybe a month back... when it arrived the early morning sun was really hitting hard. On the door pillars you could see THRU the pigment. No joke... it was that thin that in harsh sunlight it was almost transparent. This was a fresh off the lot car... never been buffed, sanded, or repainted... the factory paint is just that thin. In shade you couldn't tell, but in direct sun it was obvious. The owner and I were both floored.

Yah, even the Meguiar's blue (soft) left kind of a light sanding mark on my Z.
Had to polish it out. From there I only use my Griot's yellow clay (aka mud). super soft stuff.

I disagree with you Junkman. I believe the Zaino products are sealants and just because Sal calls them polishes does not matter. Polishes do not offer protection, sealants do. Are you or Sal saying that his products just give a good shine and no protection?

I don't think JM was trying to say they weren't... he was just pointing out that old Sal has his terminology off which confuses the issue a lot.

Those not familiar with the products could easily start to confuse the products as "corrective" which they aren't (with the exception of ZPC and ZAIO).

Its semantics really, but it confuses the issue for people who might not be so well versed in detailing terminology when something that is obviously a sealant or gloss enhancer is being referred to as a polish.
