The Ultimate Wheel Cleaner - Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner
SONAX Full Effect Wheel Cleaner
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...lersdomain.jpg Precision Wheel Cleaner for safe and effective removal of brake dust and stubborn dirt SONAX Wheel Cleaner is a highly effective, acid-free and pH balanced rim and wheel cleaner that is safe for all wheels, including aluminum and alloys. This formulation is also effective and safe for use on painted wheels and will not deteriorate clear coats. SONAX Wheel Cleaner contains unique chemical ingredients that effectively dissolves the sintered iron by forming a water soluble iron complex. During the use of your vehicle, brake dust and road grime become sintered to the surface of rims and wheels due to the high temperature conditions they are normally exposed. Brake dust contains high levels of iron and once sintered to the rim, becomes extremely difficult to dissolve or remove without the use of harsh chemicals. SONAX Wheel Cleaner sprays on as a thick, flourescent grean foam. As the cleansing foam begins to work into the dirt and grime, the formula begins to turn red. The red coloration is the SONAX Wheel Cleaner forming a bond to the sintered iron on the wheel and changing its state to a water soluble complex for easy removal. Stubborn, baked on grime may take a small amount of agitation. Rinse wheels thoroughly with a power washer and wipe dry. MSRP - $19.99. So here is the test I did over the weekend. First I used this on the VW R32 and got amazing results, unfortunately no pictures. Was able to do some more testing and the test subject a 2010 Audi S4, with all the bad weather I figured this was a great time to test it out. 4-5 weeks without washing the car (due to rain, snow, northeast winter) Take a look I followed the instructions to the tee and got some amazing results, dare I say this will be a hit! I'm going to say even better than my favorite wheel cleaner. Before shot of the wheel http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7346.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7351.jpg Sprayed it on, and it was immediately green as stated in the directions http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7355.jpg Started to turn purple within minutes http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7357.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7358.jpg Take a look at it cleaning. (this was after quickly using the Uber Spoke Brush and Uber Boar's Hair Brush nothing crazy just a quick brushing) http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7361.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7362.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7364.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7365.jpg Used a power washer (Cam Spray) and they looks great! http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7367.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7370.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7371.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...4/IMG_7369.jpg Needless to say I was impressed so impressed we will be carrying this asap. This stuff IS the best. I have tried ALOT of wheel cleaners, and this stuff still amazes me when I use it on customers cars that are TERRIBLE.
By the way, WELCOME to 370 phil!! Glad to see ya over here! |
Is this ok to use with chrome wheels ? I think i may need some sort of polish for the chrome lip on my wheels. I was driving around for awhile and then ran the car through a touchless car wash (i know bad move but i did) now there is some kind of stain/white flim on the lip of a few rims. Any idea what this is and what i can do ?

Very impressive! I've been annoyed at how much a PITA it is to clean the Sport wheels, even after applying wheel wax. I think I might give this stuff a shot.
Now I just need to find some other stuff to order to make the shipping less painful. |

Do you have a decent but cheap Leather Conditioner/Cleaner? I don't need much, just something for cleaning the steering wheel, I don't have leather seats. |

I'm sorry i had the wrong info, the wheels are volk gt-30 and are polished aluminum with clear anodized coat. |
if its clear coated it will be fine.

I hate to talk bad about a product, but I'm pretty disappointed with the results I got. I had a weeks worth of brake dust/dirt on my rims, so it wasn't a lot, just a light layer, but this stuff didn't do anything to it. I followed the directions and left it on the surface for 5 minutes.
I took a picture where I wiped away the dust in two spots, to show how it didn't remove anything. Normally I'd just move on, but since this product isn't exactly cheap, I wanted to show my results (or lack thereof). Perhaps they just don't work well on our stock rims? Honestly this worked no better than just spraying on soap while washing the car. http://www.ericz.net/images/rims.JPG |
did you just spray and rinse? He says he used a brush on it.

did you use a pressure washer to remove the product? did the product turn purple/red before you sprayed it off, did you cover the complete wheel? |

Step 3: Depending upon soil level, allow to stand 3 to 5 minutes. Cleaner turns red upon contact with iron particles. Step 4: Use a brush for extremely stubborn soils. Step 5: Rinse wheels thoroughly with a sharp stream of water from hose or pressure washer. I did use a large amount on all wheels, and used a water nozzle that shoots and a pretty sharp stream, but no, not a pressure washer. I clearly expected too much, as it seems like the reality is with this product you shouldn't even bother using it unless your wheels are extremely dirty. Oh well, pretty much a waste for me since I always try to keep my wheels pretty clean. I guess I'll just stick to using car soap and a brush. Sigh, I was hoping this would make my car wash quicker. |
what is the discount code? I might give this a try if the dealership cant get whatever it is stuck on my rims..or it might be a defect on my rims..that stuff is smoothed out on the surface of my rims..
