Default Live, Learn, NEVER use ICE!!!

I have a rant... I purchased ICE for the first time today. I have a 2 week old Black Cherry that has never been waxed. I bought the liquid ICE kit, read all the instructions and proceeded to wash my car. I used a distilled water rinse from my Mr. Clean Spot-Free kit and waited for the Z to dry. I then used their foam applicator and gave the car it's first "wax". I waited 10 minutes and then tried to buff the car...

Here's where I start to get angry...

The new microfiber just smeared the crap all over so I thought I would let it dry again. I returned in another 10 minutes and used another new, dry MF to rebuff. Long story short, after all the buffing and 3 towels later, the wax has smears that look like crap! Not only that, but the wax oozed in microfiber dust and sealed it. It also pits like a mofo and I spent another 40minutes using Meguiar's quick detailer to polish the Z up! I'm thoroughly unimpressed and would dissuade all other from use! I would have rather hand rubbed carnuba! At least it smells good!

You should try optimum spray wax. You can only buy it online.

I just bought the Adams polish kit and this stuff works as promised. The detail spray alone is worth buying. I've probably tried every wax and polish from auto zone and Adams products is the best I've tried so far. This stuff is kind of expensive, but trust me when I say it's worth every penny.

I'll try anything other than ICE! Man, why would you pay $16 for stuff that streaks? I'll check out some higher end stuff I guess. I thought ICE was suppose to be good?

Ice is really turtle wax. Just a synthetic version. The ice clay bar works ok tho.

Type in 370z to get a discount at Adams. Be sure to get their microfiber towel. You won't want to use anything else after trying it.

Wow, everyone pimps Adam's stuff. Not saying it is bad, but there are other products out there that are good. I use Meguiar's Mirror Glaze polishes and sealants along with High Tech Wax 2.0 and a bunch of other products. One great place I have purchased from online is Auto Detailing Solutions -- Meguiar's Car Wax, Auto Polish & Detailing Supplies Store. Always give me great service and very quick shipping. I'm sure the Adams stuff is good, just throwing out other options.

Most of the Mirror Glaze stuff from Meguiar's is not available in stores so you'd have to buy it online.

I was just sharing my experience with their products. I'm sure the Meguiar's products work well also. Same basic principal from both companies. I was just really impressed with the results, and that's not easy to do.

I like NXT 2.0. I wax with that, let it sit a day, then do a very thin top layer of Meg's #26

The second one needs to be wiped off when wet and then quickly followed by a light touch shine (microfiber). If the stuff dries it gets kind of messy. I use it over the top of Carnuba based waxes and it works really well as a second layer.

While we are on the subject of disappointment in car cleaning products. I purchased my Z about a month ago and have been slowly purchasing cleaning products so I can give the Z the best possible wash/wax. I've read all over this site and Adam's site about how great Adam's detail spray is. I was hestint at first but I finally purchased Adam's detail spray and tried it on my other car. I didn't want to try the detail spray on the Z iin case something went wrong. I used the spray all over, including the windows, and now whenever it rains, the windshield has a streaky film over it. Anyone ever have this problem?

One more thing, is there THAT much of a different between Adam's detail spray ($12.95 + shipping) versus a detail spray you can buy at Autozone/Target/etc for (4.95)? Maybe I just expected too much of Adams when I read all of the glowing reviews.

Sorry for my little rant but the original post got me fired up as well.

TO USE FOR A QUICK SHINE IF THE CAR HAS BEEN RECENTLY DETAILED AND YOU ONLY HAVE DUST ON IT-use California duster then Adam's Waterless Wash and their waffle weave towel. that does not streak. the detail spray is usually more of a lubricant for clay bar use or to spritz on your buffer before polishing. Was your other car very clean before using the detail spray? If not-may have smeared contaminants around-hopefully no scratching occurred. Adam's stand s behind their stuff and if you have any trouble with a product they will refund your money. I use a lot of their stuff on my Z and have not had a problem. I have a 5 gallon jug of their detail spray for polishing and claying.

I don't use it on glass, but Adam's detail spray doesn't streak as much as other stuff I've tried. Just gotta make sure the towel your using is clean, especially on glass. When you clean the panels, then clean the glass, you could be picking up dirt/grime in the towel. Use glass cleaner & a dedicated towels for the glass.
