Try Optimum quick detailer. Optimum has great products and quality. Along with a good Microfiber towel (not usually bought at autozone etc...) Then try Optimum spray wax, as it very easy to use and great protection/shine. It doesn't stain trim and is easily wiped off.

hello, i have been threw the same delima as you, i tried searching and found many different opinions, i tried the Meg NXT stuff on my red 370z and it was good, but i wanted something with a lot more gloss and a protectant shield so i went onto the Zaino site and purchased the "show car kit" that runs for about $80. I was very impressed with it and will continue to use it, you should try it, real easy to put on and take off. It gives it that deep red look that i like, however it did not remove or hide all the dealer scratches that were put on with the prewash before delivery. I am impressed with it though, and feel confident that this Zaino stuff will protect the cars finish.

I used Meguiar's NXT with great results on my G35. In between selling that car and buying my Z, I tried out TW Ice on my wife's Murano and loved it. It almost makes it TOO easy to wax a car - it's almost like spreading Crisco on your car. Wait 30min, then come back and wipe (literally "wipe", no need to "buff") it off. Never streaked, so I'm not sure what OP did to cause streaking.
The water beads up nicely so there's a protective layer that remains on the car - my #1 criteria for wax. The shine (#2), I admit, doesn't seem as deep as Meguiar's, and the smoothness of Ice is about 90% what I got with NXT. But the time and effort savings won me over. Call me lazy... |

I've had poor experiences with Turtle Waxes ICE line as well. I purchased the ICE polish paste, which never yielded good results, and the ICE clay kit which yielded extremely poor results because the clay is far too hard for the paint. With even a gentle motion and plenty of lubricant (the ICE detailer or Meguiar's Quik Detailer), it would leave engraved back and forth motion scratches. I've had much better results with Meguiar's Gold Class products, and even the Mother clay kit is much, much softer for an OTC clay kit. The ICE liquid clay is decent, for what it is. But it can only be applied after a wash (while car still wet). The only other thing that hasn't been terrible is the ICE tire shine, which gives a decent shine (not greasy in my opinion).

I've got some tech wax lying around. I'll go to that. I'm guessing my problem with ICE was I didn't let it sit long enough? My neighbor uses it on his corvette and he claims he doesn't even wipe it down.

I don't use the Carnuba products on the clear bra areas but I use the synthetic stuff there. Thanks for the heads up! You probably noticed less shine coming from the nose of my car compared to the doors?

Yes there is! That's where I get a lot of stuff like sandpaper, sanding blocks, detail brushes, pads and back plates for my rotary, etc...

Turtle wax anything is garbage. Meguiars professional line products are great, but most of the over the counter stuff is not so good. NXT is a good wax, but it still has some cleaning properties, which I don't particularly like.
As far as wax goes, one of the easiest to take off ones I have been using on customers cars is Pinnacle Liquid Souvern ( Pinnacle Souveran Paste Carnauba Wax is Brilliant on Red- Awesome on Black! Souvern is hand poured, one container at a time, and boxed with an ). Goes on easy, comes off easy. On my own car I have been using Wolfgang Fuzion ( Wolfgang Fuzion Estate Car Wax contains real carnauba wax and paint sealant polymers to protect paint. ultimate show car wax, auto wax, paste wax, ). However, as everyone should know, wax is there pretty much to protect your paint. A proper polish is needed to achieve depth and gloss. |
