how to clean touring seats?
how do i clean the touring seats? I have some stains on the suede and also darkening of the leather parts due to staining from black jeans and t-shirts. i want something aggressive to clean it well but obviously not damage the seats. i tried dilute dishwashing soap but it doesn't seem to do a good job.

Apparently alcantara is really hard to clean. Your best bet is to not get it stained/dirty in the first place (i've been told.)
I havnt heard of any product that can do it effectively without damaging the seats. Just have to live with it, i guess? |
... or buy seat covers that you can put on when you think you're wearing something that could stain it? i think you can get it at SeatShield.com - Waterproof Seat Covers

yea, its sensitive to cleaners and excessive moisture... it will ball up if you scrub at it too much and then it just looks horrible. I've not found a solution to clean heavily soiled or discolored alcantara. For light cleaning I use a diluted mixture of woolite and blot at the discoloration. I have a writeup adapted from some information produced by the manufacture of alcantara material that I will post up shortly.

Straighten me out here, I thought the Touring seats and steering wheel were leather. Not so?
What's alcantara? |
Alcantara is a 'faux' suede material... no car manufactures use real suede and haven't for some time. Alcantara is more durable and far cheaper. I just posted a writeup on the surface and how to care for it in the Detailing Section.
