Recommendations on a wax, please.

Hello all, i have searched and watched a couple of the videos and stickied threads. However, i am not as committed to spending half a day or more than a couple hours on waxing my 370z. I recently purchased the Meguirs NXT Tech wax as recommended in one of the stickied threads, the result was decent, however i did notice all the fine swirls from the dealer when they washed and prepped the car for pickup.

Im on a budget and am willing to spend upwards to between $50-$60 on a good wax that will take care of the swirls in the red paint. I will be doing this by hand. Can anyone give me any recommendations on a kit online that is pretty good? or even over the counter? ive seen this "Adam's Hand Polish Combo W/ Flip Pad & FREE 16oz Detail Spray" which seems pretty good.

Ideally i will be polishing by hand and would like something that removes the swirls, and just have some sort of protectant over it. That's it, can anyone point me in the right direction. With all the reading through these stickies and junkman's great videos i am so overwhelmed with so many options. so please any recommendations? thanks again.

Wax does not take care of swirls. You need the correct polish and correct application methods to take care of them.

And I gotta tell you... hand polishing to remove swirls is nearly impossible.

The one you saw is a good one, but a polish won't protect so you need to finish it with a wax. The buttery wax is a good addition to finish it up.

Edit: Mustang beat me to it... and agreed on the "by hand", if you have serious swirls get an PC and switch to machine polish

ok, thanks for the info so far. so here's my question which polish and which wax would you guys recommend, for someone who is doing it by hand. My paint is fresh from the dealer with light scratches from the wash and prep. thanks again.

The adam's is really a good one I would recommend.

If you're willing to invest one good weekend and then have a long time of easy going, Zaino is also a good option...

your best bet is to just hide the swirls because removing the swirls by hand is next to impossible.

maybe a PC can be rented at some hardware store???

Polish is only real way to take care of swirls. Go for a PC as they are safe and easy to use. for a wax in that range, try Pinnacle Signature series II and a cheaper option, is Optimum Spray wax. Both are great waxes and last a good amount time. If you end up polishing, also try some sealant before wax. It will look great and have a longer amount of protection. Oh and don't forget to Clay.

I put a coat of Maguire's SwirlX on before I wax and it does ok. Doesn't completely get rid of the swirls/scratches, but masks them pretty well.

clay, scratch-x, then nxt wax. looks amazing. use california duster after each drive and touch up w/ nxt quick detailer as needed.

Pinnacle is good stuff, I have their XMT polishes, grades 4,3, and 1. Number 1 is perfect with the porter cable buffer for removing those fine spider web/hairline scratches that occur over time from drying or quick detailing with a micro fiber cloth. I like Meguiar's NXT sealant for a nice gloss protective finish. You can do what many pros do and come back over that with a pure carnuba wax to really add depth and make the finish pop. I also use a pc and it really does remove the swirls. I use optimum spray wax every time I wash my z, takes 10 minutes to apply.

i didn't know the scratch x can be applied to the whole vehicle, interesting, i will try that.

Like was said, by hand you're only gonna be able to REDUCE swirls and scratches, but if you want to remove them you'll need to get yourself a machine like the Porter Cable 7424xp, pads, and a selection of polishes.
