Default Washed and Waxed the 370Z today! (Monterey Blue + pics inside :) )

Well, last few days, the weather has been GREAT here in Jersey. Today, I had few hours of FREE time. So, I decided to wash and wax the Z. Please note, I wax EVERY TIME I wash meaning, I will do this (wash+wash) sometime next month again.

As I'm saving up for the nice adam's kit, I'm using NXT 2.0 (+ Meguiars microfiber cloth) for the time being. It's pretty good. Does a good job. But I eventually want to get the Adams Detailing kit as well as perfect interior kit (I actually tried to place order for the int kit last week but their website was acting up that night . I'll probably order it next week).

I always use two bucket to wash the car. Thanks to alefcole who taught me this trick. It's amazing how much dirt you'll see in that clear water bucket after the wash. Take a look

TWO BUCKET SYSTEM

Dirty water in bucket 1 after wash

Well, here are some BEFORE pictures. Oh btw, did I mention I HATE pollen!

During the WASH

Glossy

I also put RAINX on the windshield. I love RAINX .

Outstanding!!

I always found NXT to leave an oily sheen the next day on my paint, and I quit using it. That was on a Black car. Don't know why it would do that.

She looks GREAT!

Car looks really good.

AK, you seriously need a garage to store that baby. I'm spoiled...or at least my Z is spoiled. I usually wash mine inside the garage.

I just want to let you guys know, as a professional detailer, the Adam's kit is great but it's a rape on the price. There are products out there that literally does the same if not better job then Adam's but for a lot cheaper.

I totally agree with you. The Adam's products are good but there are better alternatives available for much less. Everyone should check out detailed image for products. They have sales every week where you get a product free.

Products you should consider...

303 Aerospace protectant
PE21
Menzerna polishes
Chemical Guys products
Poorboys
Dodo Juice
Etc...

Amazing job! I'm doing the same this weekend - my babies first bath and wax. I plan to do the 2 bucket wash, then a Meguire's claybar treatment, then the NXT 2.0 finish. The Adam's stuff looks nice.

The Body Shop at the dealer actually gave me a large bottle of 3M Perfect-It Ultrafine Swirl Remover - said it was slighly more abbrasive than clay but works really well for fine touch up - watched him use it right in front of my eyes and it was pretty impressive.

Isnt the Clay bar for older paint jobs? not for a brand new car since the clay bar kinda hides some old blemishes.

The NXT 2.0 that I have is the polymer wax - only used it once on another car but man it is awesome.

That's not my understanding - the claybar basically removes contaminants that won't wash off - if you skipped this step, I would think you are just waxing over them and depending on the wax you are using it that could be detrimental. I'm no expert though - anyone else done a claybar treatment on their fairly new 370Z?

Yea, my car was built 1/09 by the time I got it a year later it had 350 miles on it and needed the clay bar. I bought a new polishing pad last week, will use some perfect-it 2 followed by several coats of synthetic wax.

Tony, thank you. It's a bay side home. I get to see the sunset everyday and it's beautiful. I'll try to post a picture of the bay.

NO, it's not wash+wax thing. First you wash your car. Then you dry it. After that you apply the wax with a microfiber pad. Wait like 15-20 minutes to dry up. Then clean the haze off with a softer microfiber cloth.

One of my friend (alefcole username here) uses it and swears by Adams. So I thought why not give it a shot. CHeck out the videos here:

It cleans very fine dirt in the clear coat pretty much. Why put wax on top of dirt?

What I do twice a year is clay, polish, seal, glaze and then wax.
That's the right way to detail
