Default 2013 Roadster T/S Fuel Door Delamination

I've scoured this site and many others and can't find anything similar to the specific problem I'm having.

I purchased my Z 15 months ago and aside from paint chips on my hood and front bumper, I haven't had any paint/clear coat issues until about a week ago. Following my usual wash routine, I noticed a small section of clear coat starting to peel on the fuel door. I've spent a decent amount of money purchasing everything needed to do paint decontamination and correction and thought that with this new issue popping up, that I would finally get around to learning how to actually do it.

With today being Father's Day, I took the day off and started washing the car with just a hose and a Griot's foaming sprayer i just purchased. It's worth mentioning that I have awful water pressure at home and generally use a cheap HF pressure washer but with the clear coat peeling up on a small area of the fuel door I opted to take a less abraisive approach.

After washing the car, I just used the sprayer with the foaming attachment removed to rinse the car off. It was then that I realized that huge chunks of clear coat were now peeling on the fuel door.

I am at a loss when it comes to explaining what has happened. Why just the fuel door? Why did this issue get so out of hand, so quickly? How do I fix this? Is it likely to happen on other parts of my car? Fixing paint chips was going to be a proactive learning experience, but this is on a whole new level and I don't know where to begin.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in regards to how I should approach fixing the paint? Can anyone help me understand what happened?

The aftermath:
