Default Quick question regarding sealant/waxes

After some reading, I decided to go with Meguiar's M21 Synthetic Sealant to put after cleaning and polishing my car.

I have seen some folks claim that it shouldn't be used because M21 is a "cleaner wax". I have no idea what this means, or what the difference between the so called "cleaner wax" and "finishing wax" is.

Some other folks mention using something else on top of the M21, like a wax or something. Do I really need to add something else?

Bonus Question: I saw the Junkman using some Zaino Z6 after applying some sealant/wax on one of his videos, but I'm not entirely sure what it does (the site is not clear), or if it's something needed?

Many many options out there. Personally I use all Adam's Polishes products.

If an admin can please move this to the detailing section, I would really appreciate it. I put it under DIY by mistake.

“Cleaner wax” usually contains a little bit of cleaning agent and maybe even a little bit of abrasives, leading to its name.

So if you already have a perfect finish on your clear coat (bare clear coat, no wax or sealant on it, and surface has been physically and chemically decontaminated aka clay’d and iron particles removed), then the finishing layer of wax should not contain anything other than for protection.

I believe that’s what those people were saying.

Z6 is a polish enhancer, not sure why he would use it after a wax either.

Is the M21 one of these "cleaner waxes", tho? Can't see anything on the bottle that would lead me to believe that

Looking at the MSDS, the only thing I see that might be a cleaner is the calcined kaolin - no idea what it does but I'm guessing that it's used as a binder for the polymer/silicone sealant. Nothing on the Maguire's web site mentions "cleaning" or "abrasive" in reference to the #21.

The whole cleaner and finishing thing seems like bro science to me, until somebody proves me wrong

21 is a sealant, not a wax. you will wax over it.
sealers typically last longer than waxes, and will build up in very minor imperfections in the paint, seemingly making them disappear (they are still there, its just the light and the sheen playing tricks on you) a good quality wax follows your sealer, and will not last as long, so you will have to re-apply more frequently than sealant.
This is my understanding of how things work.... If anyone knows better, don't hesitate to correct any of this info.
