That filter in your motor is basically same as one in a leaf blower.

It is designed to prevent larger debris from entering the motor and damaging it. It does NOT filter dust or smaller particles. But the configuration of that shop vac does prevent cross contamination of dirt from the vacuum canister.

I had one designed very similar to that long ago... that motor part separate with two little tabs on the side. They would flip out like how window locks work, and you could remove the motor. It worked but as a multi Tasker to stuck in debris and then blow dry a car, not so well...it's inevitable that some junk will make it to the impeller area and pull in junk. But, very cool of you to share your find. I hippie you enjoy your car and new found toy.

Zipper 104 will become famous soon enough
Default Blower vac

I use a leaf blower/vac to dry my car and it has no filter. I can't imagine ever worrying about any minute 'stuff' it might ingest that would hit my car while I use it. It isn't like I dry my car during a dust or sandstorm. It would be real easy to add some sort of media over the inlet if I wanted to, but I hardly see the point. I figure any sort of media that would offer effective filtering just might be too restrictive. Either it would get ingested, chewed up and spit out, (or worse, jam it up) or hinder the cooling of the motor. One thing is certain. If I used it as a vacuum I'd never use it to dry my car again.
OP.....thanks for posting up your find here. Seems perfectly viable to me since the blower detaches. It isn't like simply reversing a vacuum to use as a blower.
Not wild about those ones.

As do I. No sense in being overly anal about it....Been doing it for 5 years, no issues.
