Repairing an out-of-the-way scratch
I have a scratch on my car that is fairly deep (fingernail definitely catches) and long, but I actually didn't notice my car had it until owning it for 3 months because of where it's located.
It's on the lower part of the side panel below the door, when you're standing by the car it isn't even in your field of view, you can only see it from a distance. That said, I'm looking for the easiest solution to do this myself since it isn't on an obvious area such as the hood. Would a touch up pen, with a primer pen, rubbing compound, and clearcoat do the trick? I read online that the paint pen is only for small scratches, so I'm wondering if I can get away with using it on this scratch. If that won't cut it, what about this $70 kit? |

No way a pen fixes that... Looks to me like a sand, glazing putty, wetsand, prime, paint, and clear job. Luckily its not in a noticeable area, and you can re-spray the whole panel.
check out automotivetouchup.com for color matching spray bombs, $20 a can. Good luck with it.
