Help quick! Car wash streaks won't go away :(

Hey guys, being my first wash with the Z and not owning a white car in a while, I thought it would be okay to go to one of those DIY car wash places with their own soap and spray,etc... Bad idea!

I sprayed the car down, all going well, then I switch the knob to their "foam canon" which is labeled "triple foam" or something...I spray the whole car down, thinking, this is going to be awesome!

I get out my mitt and start scrubbing down, roof to bottom panels, bla bla bla...
I start noticing that some of the "foam" is drying! Mind you, I took the car in a bay which is covered and it was around 6:45pm...so not bright and sunny by any means! I start washing it down with the pressure washer and the streaks aren't coming out! I scrub at it furiously but to no avail!

What do I do?? Do I take it to a hand-wash place and let them re-wash the car or do I need to clay/wax/polish??

:icon14:

They are "light" pink streaks :(

I tried spraying some quick detailer to see if that would help...nope!

Find a reputable paint correction "specialist" in your area. After the paint is corrected, opt for glass coating application.

I can recommend two, both are about 1,300 miles away from you, the affordable one won't travel that far and the very expensive one will travel but he charges $100/hour on top of traveling expenses.

Well can anyone tell me how I can do it? I've got a rob back home and polish and compound

I cant see the pics at work but is it like residiual foam or sorta tinted the paint?

I would hand wash it yourself and follow up with a clay bar, looks like the crappy foam solution dried on the car before you could wash it off

You can use those DIY washes but you must bring your own supplies

Do you not have access to your own hose?

Or a neighbor's driveway in the middle of the night. There's always a hose hanging on the side of the house.

Not a word of a lie, did that triple foam bull contain pink or blue in it? Did it color your hands pink or blue afterwards?

I used a place on my wifes car, my hands were pink for days afterwards.

Dont scrub it! Its gonna leave scratches on your car.

Try using meguiars gold wash. Wash your car under the shade, soak your car with soap until the suds disappear a little bit and wash it down.

Use claybar, if it wont work just wait till you wash your car 3-5 times and see if the spots disappear by then.

If it wont work use a harsher soap like a diluted dawn dishwasher soap and it might come off, but beware it's gonna strip all the wax/sealant and oils that you applied in your paint. Make sure to put wax/sealant on your car asap after the harsh wash.

It's that triple foam crap you see in in automated car washes with the 3 colors. It did dry in it, I'll try taking it to a hand wash place soon and see if it helps, if not, will wait to go back to Houston where I have access to a driveway and a hose. Bah, this is so annoying!

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for but I did the same thing to my wheels a while ago (powdercoated) and it did the same ****. "Streaks" on all my wheels. No matter what I used it never came off. So I had to repowdercoat them.

:ughdance: Going to clay it later tonight but before I mess up my paint - what is a good dry-wash? Like I mentioned, I don't have access to a water hose other than the DIY car places...which I can go back to if needed.

should I be claying before I wash?? Also...does clay remove wax/sealer?

uh... yea... no claying won't mess up your paint if done right.

i suggest youtubing junkman's vids for some top notch info.

i use mother's clay kit. comes with a cloth + 2 clay bars + quick deatiler (QD). QD = lube and you need lots of it. make sure you use the correct types or it'll be a bad time.

as for dry washing... yea can't comment. from my understanding it's like a QD essentially...

I am far from an expert on all this stuff. All i can do is offer my experience.
My Harry is blackcherry. I had water spots that i could not get off. Tried different cleansers. Tried using the water softener water instead of straight out of spigot. Different hose nozzles to prevent spots when rinsing. I tried drying immediately. Nothing worked.
Turns out a bit of off hand advice from my forum GTGs (Alcheng and Kenchan) worked. Harry just needed a good clay barring and a really good wax job. Voila'. No more spots. Until my wax gets yucky and thin again anyways. So don't panic just yet.
Just my :twocents:

:iagree: Junkmans threads here in forum and his videos are essential. Especially if you are inexperienced. Take three or four hours and get educated. It is well worth the time.

I had a feeling it was that coloring they add to the foam. That stuff doesnt even come out of my hands. I am thinking and I could be wrong, that the color / dye has etched into the clear coat, probably more so in areas that have more micro marring or swirls.
