Just a quick review of a so called quick detailer.
Before I start I would like to say for the record that I don't generally buy into waterless washing procedures which in my opinion quick detailers fall into.
Sometimes however I will use meguires quick detailer( the burgundy bottle) if the vehicle is pretty clean and also if there is a slight annoyance on an area that is annoying me. For example bugs splattered on front bumper cover which is incidentally also clear bra'd and a magnet for bug stains\etching - another story. I recently had the displeasure of trying a product called Turtle Wax Ice quick detailer. The product again in my humble opinion is labelled incorrectly. There is no "quick" in detailing as far as this product goes. Let me expand for a moment, from where I come from and used to, the application of a quick detailer means spray and wipe off. This particular product requires one to spray then wipe and then wipe again( with another cloth) the waxy smeary residue that it leaves behind once dried. Well, in my books this ain't no "quick" detailer. Moreover, using this product since we are wiping area more than once could result in more added swirls and scratches since after all we are waterless washing a given area. More so given the fact that the second pass with the microfiber is applied on a dry lube free surface. This product states that it also hides minor swirl marks, good job too. As you will be making a good few of those. As a quick detailer this item belongs in the trash can. Perhaps it might work after a wash, who knows. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk |

Take a tip from the Harley community..
I've seen the TW Ice stuff but never tried it.
The Harley crowd has used the plain aerosol 'Pledge' furniture polish as a quick detailer forever. If you are still loooking, maybe give that a shot. The plain lemon stuff in the yellow can. 104 |

Thanks for the review. I have found that most off-the-shelf detailers like the ones you mentioned are only good for lubrication when using clay. Other than that, these aren't good for QD applications that we car lovers expect.

I am sure as a wax/ detailer after a full deep wash it will work okay.
I even tried some of the clay lube made by Chemical Guys, bought the big diluted jug. That mofo leaves streaks like I wiped with a contaminated 0-30W oil cloth on the panels. However, and this part is important. It was never advertised as a quick detailer. Anyways, need my 2nd wash of the year today. As I drove from Orlando to home earlier this evening. It was raining and there was lots of little ickle frogs being run over on the road by yours truly, not sure what the hell was going on, for a moment I thought the plague had started. Now the garage smells as does the exterior of the car of a dirty sewage stale water stench. I dread to look under the fenders. Last edited by Limeybastard; 06-03-2015 at 05:22 AM. |

I use meguires quick detailer ( the burgundy bottle), as well….LOVE it. Will not use anything else. Nothing nicer than being able get that car-show shine in a bottle.

I use a product called Reload on my C-Quartz and Xpel, (from the makers of C - Quartz) but I'm so anal I never put it anywhere near my paint unless I've just washed and dried it. Between washes NOTHING touches my paint unless I get the odd smashed bug. I drown the bit**** with warm water on a MF cloth until they just about fall off and that's even with the Xpel and C-Quartz. The two give me an extra layer of protection over the paint. There isn't a QD out there I'd trust on anything but a freshly washed and dried car. I'd sure like to know if there is one. 104 |

I've used Meguiars and was never happy with the shine. It cleaned well but never produced enough shine for me. I now use it for clay jobs and for my rims and exhaust tips and cans. I recommend Poorboy's QD+, Chemical Guys Hybrid V7, and Chemical Guys Speed Wipe. I've used all three. V7 for the high gloss shine but I love PB's QD+ and the CG SW because of the sine AND the smell it leaves in your garage.

You are using a QD to produce a shine on your paint?

Maintain/retain. Not shine on its own. Lol.
