Clay and Polish really??? Seems like over kill. Did the car have high miles or something??

DetailAddict 09-07-2010 10:08 AM

not a very high mileage, but definitely needed clay. and if you clay, you gotta follow with polish. Just because the car is new, doesn't mean it doesn't need clay. here is just a small section of the car on a BRAND NEW camaro...

Yea thats a camaro, they come all messed up form the factory LOL. Nah I see what your saying. My last two brand new cars did not need any clay and polish. Guess it cant hurt to do it anyway.

DetailAddict 09-07-2010 11:21 AM

yep, you are correct, not all need any clay and polish brand new. unfortunately for this one, upon inspection, it was needed... :( Oh, I should have stated, this one had the front bumper sprayed, which ended up with bunch of overspray on the hood..

I have the same 7424 xp porter cable..I was going to switch out our backing plate next week for the 3m backing plate and 6 inch pads...looks like you have the same thing, what's the price on yours?

LMBmikeZ 07-12-2011 04:50 PM

It's good to clay a new car lots of times thy are shipped by trains. So they collect rail dust which is very harsh to new paint! I had mine brought in on flat bed it cost extra and took longer but I think it's better if given the choice!

EDIT: oops old thread sorry guys

mr_sk 08-16-2011 07:54 AM
