Looking for some 370z information

i've driven my z the past 3 winters, and honestly in toronto the car is perfectly fine. I run the base wheels with michelin winter tires on 225 and 245. Im 1.5" lower then stock height with a lip and i am yet to get stuck in a toronto winter. Last winter i drove in 2 of the snow storms, and the ice storm, and it was fine. If you are driving it in snowy conditions my advice turn the stupid VDC off. it hinders your ability to drive safely more than it helps you. If you stop at a light on up hill you are not gona get far with the vdc on, also the ABS will triple your stopping distance in the snow. Me personally i rather modulate throttle and braking myself for better control.

As for rust protection it is definitely good to do it, i've only done it once 2 years ago, and my car was covered with rust protection overspray all over. The two spunge things that your hood rests on when you close it were soaked with that stuff for about a year. Borderline impossible to clean them. For that reason i have stopped doing the rust protection. i do occassional checks on my underbody to spot for signs of rusting or damage doh.

if you care about your paint and headlights, wrap them both, autolinks provide a service for both. For the paint a cheaper alternative is plastidip but i am not 100% on how it holds up in winter conditions.

I did a 225 and a 245, no spacers, the rear looks funny cause the wheels are in a fair bit, but it keeps the crap from the road in the wheel well...

Basically for winter tires, I'm assuming my rims and the actual wheels will have to be changed from the current stock ones right..?

So I read in this topic that 18 inch rims and I guess some type of wheel is needed...Which one has been the most effective for you guys? We all live in Toronto, so I hope our end results will be similar lol.

You are correct, wheels have to be changed to 18's if you don't already have them.

What people are talking about when they say: 235/45/18

235 is the width of the tire
45 is the profile (height of the side wall)
18 wheel size

Just get steelies for winter driving.

Steelies will work Only if you put spacers otherwise it won't clear brakes. Also, looks shitty.
I bought msr wheels, they're fairly cheap

The numbers refer to the width of the tires in milimeters

Can you tell me which RIMs can be used with the 370z without having to do anything to the breaks? I'm not looking for anything expensive or fancy since it's winter time after all...

In general, do small potholes and bumps damage the car in any way? I'm driving down don mills road south to go to work and back up after work and there are really small pot holes, nothing too serious but I'm afraid in the long run, something will break...

Wheels guys would know more about this. But in general it all depends on the type of rim, the design, spoke style, material thickness, etc..

Depending on what you buy, the rim specs to clear your brakes will vary.

Pot holes and bumps are sometimes hard to avoid. Crazy people like me will take a mental note and plan a route around sections that have pot holes.

Any pot holes is never good for the car, but this is Canada. We are going to have them all year round. treat it as wear and tear.

Anyone have any experience having minor car scratches fixed?

I got a few light scratches, but deeper than the top protective layer, but paint still fine. Just curious on how people tend to these things if they're semi anal about their car like me lol..

Ask Junkman. Attach photos of the scratch. You should post this in the detailing/appearance forum. Not likely to get as good a play here.
