Purchasing From Tirerack?

Hey all,
Thinking about ordering some winter tires this summer and wondering how your experiences were getting tires up here from Tirerack?

always quick and efficient. Don't know about Canadian shipping, but I order from them all the time with no problems.

They are really good overall, apparently their brokerage fees and everything can be included through UPS.

If you're interested in saving on brokerage and duty fees and taxes, this is what I did:

Check out their authorized installers list. So I guess someplace in Bellingham or maybe Blain Washington.

Have them shipped there, installed then come back over the border. I did that on my end. Funny enough, I go back over the border for something else a month later and thats when a border guard was like..."hmm, did you just buy those tires?" lol

Anyways, just a thought to consider. It saved me a nice chunk.

Compare the prices with 1010tire. They are out in BC and you don't have to worry about the customs and duty.

Thanks guys, yea I'll have to weigh the cost to get to Bellingham since BC Ferries likes to rape us over here. Might still be cheaper to ship right to my door :P

watch out for special promotions. with the dollar situation, savings are not great but still better than buying local

Shipping costs for tires is expensive coming into Canada from the U.S. I just went to Costco when they had $70 off a set of Michelins. They were still more expensive by a few hundred $$$ but I got a road hazard warranty that I could use in Canada and free tire rotation/balancing every 6K or 10K kms.

My previous set of Michelins came from Tirerack but I had them shipped to my buddy's winter home in Florida and he brought them back to me. No issues with Tirerack. Pay by cc and they will ship anywhere you wish.

I've used tire rack without issue but I fail to see any price advantage over buying locally. The price of shipping to SC ate up any cost savings.
