370Z Engine Oil Overheating Issue

Dose any of you (Western Canada Owners) have overheating issue for the engine oil on daily drives?

Canadian370Z 08-20-2009 03:08 PM

Nothing even close. I've driven relatively hard in 35 degree heat (celcius), and the only thing that increased was the water temp (from around 90 to 110 degrees celcius).

But, I also haven't raced it continuously in very hot weather.

Nice to hear but there is a really big thread about overheating issue at US owner forum

You bet! But, that's for guys who mainly (that's mainly) track their cars.

Sibze 08-20-2009 05:20 PM

I am in the Toronto area and have had 0 0 0 0 0 0 issues

Its one of those hugely misunderstood issues. Under normal driving conditions you shouldn't be going into limp mode. I drive fairly aggressively and I've barely cracked 110C - usually around 90-100. If you are going to track the car then you need an oil cooler - plain and simple.

I've hit 117C during a hot day in Edmonton (32C) {US: 243F and 90F}.
I will be getting a small Sterab oil cooler next spring with a Mocal thermostat

FricFrac 08-24-2009 01:04 AM

I haven`t priced it out but how does it compare buying the bits compared to the Stillen kit

bucketman 08-24-2009 01:14 AM

I bought my setup for about three fifty-no thermostat. about thirtyfive more for thermostat. BAT(british american transfer) has mocal and setrab.

FricFrac 08-24-2009 01:28 AM

Do you have a list of parts?

bucketman 08-24-2009 02:13 AM

Yep. I'll have to put my hands on it. My cooler and mount will be different than yours. Neither the stillen or the nissan oil cooler will fit my car, it's a nismo and has the body damper running horizontal across the front core. I had to go with Setrab series 9 which is real long but low profile to fit beneath the damper.

FricFrac 08-24-2009 01:54 PM

Cool - were the cables pre-made or do you just buy lengths then cut to length?

bucketman 08-24-2009 09:54 PM

Okay heres my parts list.
M22PL10 90 fitting coming off of cooler qty2
PS-10 Str fitting to oil cooler sandwich qty2
SP1-F oil cooler sandwich (no thermostat) qty1
FBN-10 hose black socketless hose 10'
A10F22L Setrab Oil Cooler
ABKT-310 Setrab Oil Cooler Bracket

I cut the hoses myself, fairly easy using the socketless hose and fittings. The oil cooler and bracket are not what I would use on a regular 370. Like I said the Nismo has a clearance problem. Anyway the guys at batinc.net are helpful and know what they are talking about.

ps. Nice 240
