Moving to Vancity

I will be moving to Vancouver for a job in September or Late august and I'm wondering where's a good place to live in Vancouver..

Any suggestions?

By the way, I think I saw hyunsoo on Robson street yesterday while I was visiting to talk to the firm there.

Are you looking to rent or buy?

I will eventually buy. Though it will be my primary residence, i would like to think of it as an investment. I was thinking about olympic village but it still seems too much like a ghost town.. condo/house doesnt matter really but i want to be closer to DT.

When I first moved there I lived in Kitsilano, close to DT, close to beaches. Awesome neighborhood.

When you rent, I think BC doesn't have a mandatory yearly lease. Some have month to month lease also.

The trend seems to suggest that the BC housing prices are on the downfall. That was one of the reasons for me willing to rent first and see opposed to buy right away. Kitsilano is mainly comprised of residential houses, correct?

It really depends on your budget, where you work, and whether you will be taking public transit or not. I was looking at the Olympic Village a while ago and I believe the cheapest condos left were starting at mid 700's and up to several millions. However, if you don't mind living in the heart of downtown then you can find some for around 400's.

If you are going to take public transit like the Skytrain then any place along your transit line would be good (Cambie, Broadway, Nanaimo, even Burnaby).

Other options are Kits, Science World area, and North Van (or West Van if you're super rich) but crossing the Lion's Gate or the Iron Workers bridge will be quite miserable.
