Default First week...

OK, I've had the 370 for just over a week now. Impressions.... well, I'm not sure. I am holding myself back from experiencing the true "potential" of the engine's performance (read: driving like a pansy). But, I will be travelling to the Canadian Rockies this coming weekend, and after I get back it should be time for the first oil change and the engine will be properly broken in.

Car washes (first week) : 2
Gas mileage : WHO CARES!
Mileage travelled (first week) : 1170 kilometers
People coming up to talk to me about the car : 9
People trying to goad me into a race : 6
Looks (gawks) : endless (no really, lots!)
Sound of the Stillen induced exhaust : incredible (rumble-nicious)

The car is really not as easy as it looks to clean. I thought the 19" Rays would be a cinch to clean. Not really. And the "lowness" of the car does not really help a 5'8" person to reach the middle of the hood and roof.

All in all, compared to my last ride ('08 Honda Accord coupe 3.5L 6MT), in a word... WOW!! So much more comfortable in the seat. Both driving and sitting.

One major complaint though. And I had the same complaint with the Honda. The satellite radio channel switching "thingy" does not work on the steering wheel. Now come on Nissan!! You would think that with steering wheel audio controls you "should" be able to toggle up and down the different channels when you've got the satellite radio on. Nope! Everytime you move the up/down button on the steering wheel, it takes you to "preview channel 1". Very annoying, but the Honda did the same thing.

Bugs... hate them! It would seem that the bugs really like the car too. I've washed them off twice now in the first week. Oh well, I guess they know a good thing when they run into it.

So, it brings me back to my first sentence. My impressions are good. No problems. Car looks and feels great. But as with "initial quality surveys", they really don't hold much water with me. We'll see in a few months. Keep you posted...

Normally the last thing that goes through a bugs mind when he hits your car is his butt but with the Z its "wow - nice car! Hard but nice." ;P

I carry a bottle of detailing spray and some micro fiber cloths in my car for bugs mainly. Its a lot easier to get them off after a cruise than the next day or week baking in the sun.

Good idea, I also do when "showing" the car at meets.

I've seen it suggested elsewhere on this forum but wanted to pass along the message as I plan to do the same with mine when it finally arrives. Wax the rims to allow easy(ier) cleaning of the brake dust. Also check out the bug & tar version of Rain-x and apply to the front and back windshields. Don't know how well this stuff works yet, but I've hard good things.

Actually, the ease or lack of, that I was talking about was about the nooks & crannies on the wheels themselves. Not seeing much brake dust so far. And the rims have a beautiful coat of clear-coat, so I'm not sure what waxing them would accomplish. Maybe in a year or so (?)

And yes, I've treated the front glass with Rain-X. This stuff is great. In fact, you really don't need wipers when the glass has been treated.... water just rolls off.

Synthetic wax like Meguire's NXT or Turtle ICE (I prefer the ICE as I use it on my plastics/rubber with outstanding results - Meguire's says not to use it on plastic or rubber) is perfect for the mags...

Get the Daytona wheel brush - its amazing. Just be sure to keep it in its original packaging to keep it from getting squished.

I use detailing spray on my exterior glass as well. Water just beads off and it helps with bug removal as well. Since I already have the detailing spray it doesn't make sense to get the RainX as well....
