GTA Track Meet idea

Hey guys some of us have been talking about organizing a track day for the Zs and our friends. Currently i dont think anyone has done any research on cost, availability, licensing and so forth. So i think this would be a good time to start. Post here the ideas you have and any useful information to help turn this idea into an actual event.

To start off i think it would be helpful for a lot of us if we get involved into some of the already existing such events. One that has recently been brought up to my attention is the AutoSlalom 2013(here). They have an open house info session on April 7th. Me and my coworker are most likely going and would likely sign up for it. Anyone else up for this?

agh im going in pretty much stock but im interested. ill have a word with my friend who has hookups to cayuga

The Autoslalom is more like SoloOne, time attack on a technical course which made up with snow-cones in a parking lot.

It is actually very technical but fun to compete cos it's not about speed but cornering skills.

You need a Competition License in order to compete in those event.

Track day is a different thing though.

Depends on we are joining track-day event or we organize our own ie have one at Cayuga.

If we are going to have Ire to hookup with his friend to have a track day, there's couple things we have to note:

1) When is the best time frame the track is available

2) Total cost to rent the track

3) Do we need medical standby

4) We have to aware the coverage from our auto-insurance policy

5) To drive around the track, we don't need special license, since it's not a competition event

6) Helmet

This is what I can think of right now.... feel free to add...

I'm curious about the insurance issue. From a search of this forum, it seems that one cannot get track day/event insurance here. Is that true? I'm game for track time, but not without insurance. I was hoping to play closer to home, but now I'm debating the drive south for a NASA HPDE event or two while visiting friends.

How much do you think it is to rent a track ? how many people are you thinking?

MrSir 03-02-2013 10:49 AM

well i dont know exact numbers but i am going to guess to make it affordable a.k.a. $150-200/person we will need 20-30 cars minimum. But then again i am just guessing. Ire can probably provide more details once he talks to his cayuga people.

actually now that i did a quick look up, the prices seem to be:

Full details found here: Toronto Motorsports Park - Road Course they do have pricing for standby ambulance and something about insurances for cars.

one more usefull link if we decided that an exclusive day for just us is too expensive we can always join the open car lapping days: Toronto Motorsports Park - Road Course

I've looked into that before. Kayuga offers $1100 for the day, that includes 60ft spray, light tree and emergency unit on site. Max 10 cars with each addition car extra $
