Nissan 370Z Forum

My experience when purchasing the 370z.

Congrats on your car - I'm so thankful I fluked out and they had the exact car I wanted not far from me so I didn't have to custom order.....

congrats. I know the the feeling as I am going through it now. My order was put in on May 15th. It's looking like it might be a 2010 at this point.

OP: I feel your pain! I ordered Mar 5th and received it Jun 10th (97 days). The status of my car was not updated properly either, leaving my dealer in the dark. Nissan's logistics department needs a serious kick in the pants.

The biggest problem, besides Nissan not providing ANY information on tracking to the dealers, is waiting for the boat to fill. Being in Canada puts us at a decided disadvantage compared to our US counterparts. Again it comes down to the old ten percent situation. With Canada being only one tenth of the US market, it would take forever if we had to fill a boat with JUST Canadian orders. So we are stuck with having to wait for the boat to fill. And with the US economy in the toilet, the wait is now longer than ever.

I'm now at 80 days since I placed my order. I have confimation that the car has been built. Nissan will only provide this update to the dealer: "Built, in port". (Which translates into " the car has been built and is waiting for the boat to fill before shipping.") No VIN, no "in transit", nothing!! I feel for the dealers who have to listen to customers (such as myself) phone them week after week looking for news (any news) on our orders.

Your situation was terrible. No questions!! Nissan really dropped the ball for you and your dealer had to take the "heat" on their behalf. As others have mentioned, how hard can this be? Why can't Nissan provide any information on order staus? How hard can it be to track something as large as a vehicle? Have they not heard of modern day logistical tracking methods?

Really gets down to one thing to the customer (us).... Nissan customer service needs help!

In my case, I'll keep you posted. My dealer is put into a difficult position and I'm willing to give him time. But there will come a time when I will have had enough.

What's your experience? Maybe there are some who are employed by Nissan reading these posts. Maybe word "can" filter through...(?!)

First thing I did when I got home was "wash the car"!!!

After wash, I was considering weather to "clay" the car. AND the answer is YES!

Have a look at the clay after just doing the spoiler:

Who would think a brand new car would turn out like this. I know many of you are thinking that the car had been driven by the dealer for awhile, but the car only got 12km when I got it.

After clay, I waxed.

And after, I put on the clear bra I ordered 3 months ago. I didn't complete the entire coverage, just hood, fender and mirrors for now.

Tommorow, I will continue with bumper, roof, a pillar, headlights and rocket panels.

It's going to be a long day....

^GJ man. Looking good

FYI,
Most new cars should be cleaned using a clay bar.. The surface contamination from the factory is usually quite bad..

Ditto on the highlighted parts. 84 days and counting My order was built in the first week on June, so in reality it took 49 days for Nissan to build it and now it's been 35 days awaiting delivery. None of which is the dealers fault!

Nissan needs to step up there game in Canada and treat us customers better. They could start by offering the Nismo 370Z version for sale in Canada. Nobody likes being treated as a second class consumer.

I for one, plan to complain to Nissan corporate head office on the ridiculous wait time for delivery of the new 370Z. Next time, I just may head south and get what I want in a reasonable time frame.

rant over

I originally placed an order for a Genesis 3.8 GT in early March. Come early May, the dealer still did not have confirmation for a delivery date. I asked for my deposit back and bought the Z a few days later. Hey, it worked out better in the end because I got a better car for a few $K more, imho. So, it's not just Nissan that keeps the dealers in the dark.

I'm in the same boat as you. Ordered near the end April. If I'm not sitting in my car by aug, I expect an exact date as well as a discount. ( I understand that it's not the dealers fault). If they can't provide me with BOTH, I'll walk

Patient is the key here, patient.

Not that the car isn't coming, it just takes times.

Make 4 months your time limit, after that, consider again.

They need to fill the boat with order's, the car hasen't taken off the way the dealers expected hence the delay, most likely due to economic condition.

These boats hold literally hundreds of cars & trucks. They don't just hold the 370's.
