Too bad... Guess we'll wait for them to reply.

Also, although I'm not sure how this would work out, but I'm suggesting to grab the whole shipment from the states (Say UPS Customer center at Niagara Falls), and then distribute them at a group meet. This would save a bunch of money from shipping fees and brokerage.

According to the shipping fees on Z1's website
Shipping to 14301 = $13.60
Shipping to L3T 5W5 (Phil's place, for example) = $64.19 + brokerage fee from fedex approx $52 = $106.19 = stupid.

Above listed shipping prices are for each unit. Probably more discount with a batch order shipment.

Roundtrip from Phil's place to UPS Customer Center = approx 350KM = less than a tank of gas.

If, from the list above, 4 people are buying = total savings per person would be approx $80 in shipping alone, say after deducting the gas money to drive to the states.

Another option is.. get all the kits to ship to 1 place...

Shipping to L3T 5W5 = $139.47 + brokerage fee from fedex approx $73.25 = $212.72 / 4 = $53.18

With this method, we only had to pay approx $54 per person for shipping, plus taxes paid of course.

Going bigger with a blocking plate sounds like a good idea. The problem with the Canadian climate is the temperature fluctuations. If your in B.C, its not bad as it stays mild. But in Ontario, mid summer is just as hot as any southern state, this year we have been as high as 108 F outside already.

You guys should consider doing a one time delivery to a UPS mailbox in Niagara Falls NY. You pay a small fee and can have your items shipped there, then just have 1 guy pick them up and bring them over.

unless z1 makes you a invoice that is very cheap, the boarder will rape you with taxes and such

im fine with it all being shipped to one address and splitting the shipping

You would have to pay for taxes either way. Doesn't matter if its being shipped directly into Canada, or bringing them over to the border.

As for lowered invoice amount... :ughdance:

I can answer this............

YES we can save on shipping and get them shipped to somewhere in Buffalo. I have a mailing address there any way and have used it for various items with np's. Also getting them over here is just as easy who said anything about duties and taxes. When we get the boarder you just tell them the parts you are bringing back are MADE IN USA then it fallows under the NAFTA and you should be able to cross with out any further interactions/interference from the boarder.

SIDENOTE: still no reply.......:shakes head: do people not want $$? Do they not want to make a large sale? I just don't get it  Only Jomar at FBNISSAN was quick and timely, however he doesn't deal with Z1, as for two others I have yet to get replies from!

Try Spencer@Z1 he replied to me for an unrelated thing pretty quick.

I got a reply now but it wasn't 100% clear so I had some more questions for them. I will update here ASAP when I hear back........

ShinyBlueZ 07-09-2012 04:23 PM

Umm LMB can you please explain to me what you meant by the customs/duties thing?

Were you implying that you could bring a bunch of car parts/equipment back from the States back into Canada and can tell them the parts were made in the US or something and you don't have to pay anything on them?

I'm a lil confused.. don't have much experience crossing the border at all but that sounds a little too good hehe So you could cross the border and as long as everything you buy was made in the US you don't have to pay duties on anything when you come back? If that's true I gotta plan a buffalo/new york trip soon haha
