UpRev ECU Dyno tune

One tuner I talked to here spoke of taking the opposite approach, to some degree. To leave the car a bit richer than necc (close to stock A:F ratio), and then push the timing out for gains rather than bring the A:F all the way to the edge first.

What's a "GB"?

Also, to those looking to really optimize things.... You can literally spend hours and hours trying different things. Money is the key. To rent dyno time can be expensive. The more time, the more money. That's why we rely on the tuner to a certain extent. He's seen the results from other cars similar to ours and he knows where to start. It was nice to have a similar set up to mine "on file" so as to have a great starting point. After that, it was only two more tries with the AFR before we tried the timing route.

So, I didn't spend a whole lot of dyno time. Only 5 or 6 pulls. If you're really picky (and rich $$), you can spend the whole day trying different things.

That can be kind of dangerous with the VQ's valve train.

GB= group buy, I remember seeing one was starting at Lightspeed, but i don't remeber the out come.

It happened (just barely). If you didn't get in, you pay the full price for the license.

Nice write up 6mt I too had a very good experience with Lightspeed nice to hear your happy with the gains and don"t blame you for keeping the final numbers to yourself. I can't wait to go back and see him, only with Uprev this time and not Cobb!

I'm wondering... What do you guys figure would be the average cost of an appointment? My Z is stock right now, mods down the road but not for a few years though. Would this affect a stock Z enough to justify the cost? I'm just starting to notice that 'wall' that 6MT was talking about.

I would not spend the money on a tune till you have ALL the mods you want on the car. It is a waste of money/time IMO.

It would also be a good idea to wait for a group tune (like the one with Specialty Z we just had) to get your car tuned properly. I am sure the guys that were tuned by Seb will agree, that the cars have been running much better since that tune.
