Can I get some install help in the GTA?
Hey guys, I've got a GTR Start/Stop button and a new Shifter knob recently.
My normal shop is shying away from the install for some reason, probably because they aren't familiar with 370z, and they specialize in exhaust/mechanical work. I was wondering if someone in this area with mechanical knowledge would be willing to help me out. I have no idea WTF I'm doing and don't mind paying someone for their time, and we can work on it in the garage or I can drive out to your location. If all else fails can someone recommend reliable a shop that they know would be able to do the install for a decent price. Thanks

Those are jobs that you can easily do yourself, and I do mean easily. I followed instructions similiar to these for my backup camera install. I had half the cars interior out and ran all sorts of wiring and did it without a hitch. If you knew how non mechanically inclined I was and how I never do stuff like this, you appreciate how easy it is to follow instructions like these. Seriously, have a look and do it yourself.
GTR Button Swap Out Believe it or not, the shift knob just unscrews. Lots have reported they need to cover the knob with a towel or something to protect it, then use grips to twost it off. Depends how much locktite you haue on it. But it's a simple unscrew and replace. Comments on the shift knob.

P.s. Re: jazz: the guy that did his had done a very nice job, and I'll definitely be looking at a 1year warranty on workmanship. Doing a moisture-free job is tricky, but I am considering giving it a full vacuum and a dry nitrogen flush. I do HVAC, all this stuff is readily available to me in my truck |

Sh!t jjaden if u lived closer my way I would just say come over to my house and I'll do it in my driveway for you for free! And in like 30mins tops, both of those are easy to do! My start/stop I had done in 20mins np! I'm sure the second time would be even easier. as for the new shift nob it's even easier like dizzy said just unscrew it, I've done it to my other vehicles by had! You should try it yourself first you will probably be able to spin it off by hand!
Ps: don't know how mechanically inclined you are but left loosey, righty tighty lol. Just so u don't keep cranking it right and strip the shut outta your shifter. That would open a whole new list of problems...... Last edited by LMBmikeZ; 06-17-2011 at 04:48 PM. |
