Can I get some install help in the GTA?

Hey guys, I've got a GTR Start/Stop button and a new Shifter knob recently.

My normal shop is shying away from the install for some reason, probably because they aren't familiar with 370z, and they specialize in exhaust/mechanical work.

I was wondering if someone in this area with mechanical knowledge would be willing to help me out. I have no idea WTF I'm doing and don't mind paying someone for their time, and we can work on it in the garage or I can drive out to your location.

If all else fails can someone recommend reliable a shop that they know would be able to do the install for a decent price.

Thanks

Take it to Alphawerx :P if u don't mind driving all the friggin way to our area

Edit: btw on a side note, I want my lights blacked out and halos + led strips installed. Can you shoot me a pm about your guy Ns how much he charged u? Thnx ;)

Those are jobs that you can easily do yourself, and I do mean easily. I followed instructions similiar to these for my backup camera install. I had half the cars interior out and ran all sorts of wiring and did it without a hitch. If you knew how non mechanically inclined I was and how I never do stuff like this, you appreciate how easy it is to follow instructions like these. Seriously, have a look and do it yourself.

GTR Button Swap Out

Believe it or not, the shift knob just unscrews. Lots have reported they need to cover the knob with a towel or something to protect it, then use grips to twost it off. Depends how much locktite you haue on it. But it's a simple unscrew and replace.

Comments on the shift knob.

Yeah let me know when you go, maybe I'll be able to drop by too!

P.s. Re: jazz: the guy that did his had done a very nice job, and I'll definitely be looking at a 1year warranty on workmanship. Doing a moisture-free job is tricky, but I am considering giving it a full vacuum and a dry nitrogen flush. I do HVAC, all this stuff is readily available to me in my truck :)

Da.Menace 06-17-2011 11:05 AM

LMK too! Since Alphawerx is pretty close to my usual hangout, maybe I'll drop by too lol :) Been wanting to hear that FI exhaust for a while

P.S. Why did jazz post a pic of his car?
( Click to show/hide )
Not sure I get the reason behind it. Show off?

DjSquall 06-17-2011 11:57 AM

Cuz he's cool like that

uh huh. whatever. Anyways, DJ gimme a txt/call when you guys are meeting, i'll drop by also :)

LMBmikeZ 06-17-2011 12:56 PM

Sh!t jjaden if u lived closer my way I would just say come over to my house and I'll do it in my driveway for you for free! And in like 30mins tops, both of those are easy to do! My start/stop I had done in 20mins np! I'm sure the second time would be even easier. as for the new shift nob it's even easier like dizzy said just unscrew it, I've done it to my other vehicles by had! You should try it yourself first you will probably be able to spin it off by hand!

Ps: don't know how mechanically inclined you are but left loosey, righty tighty lol. Just so u don't keep cranking it right and strip the shut outta your shifter. That would open a whole new list of problems......

How is the service and rates from Alphawerx ? I'm thinking of getting the NST pulley kit but not sure how much it would cost to install it, prefer to bring it to someone who did it before.

Does Alphawerx have a corner balancing maching? And laser alignment?

If you mean wheel balancing, yes.

And they do alignment, im just not 100% sure if it's laser.

DjSquall 06-27-2011 03:31 PM

Ok, I just checked, they have an infrared crossbeam alignment setup and they do wheel balancing of any size wheels. I've had mine done several times, and it's been 100% perfect every time.

Any more questions? Lol :)

LOL... yeah I should've made myself more clear.

Corner balancing = Equal weight at all 4 corners of the car, using coilovers to adjust for the result.

As for infrared crossbeam alignment, yes you're correct, I am looking for that. Need to get my Camber/Toe fixed

You going anytime soon? If he does have the infrared crossbeam alignment then I may be going there very soon.

No I'm pretty sure jazz was getting a whole list of things done. He had a whole bunch of parts plus he was getting it tuned after the install.

Jazz has a separate build thread you can check out to get all the details of what's been done....

Once again, he did mine. Twice now. Rotors too. I tend to have a bit too much fun in the Z and went through two sets already.

I've said it before and I'll say it again lol they're the only place I trust with my Z. As a matter of fact, it's there right now. Sleeping :)

Give us call at 289 597 0858 and ask for Darren if you are still inquiring about the install of the pulley kit. Don't worry about the 289 area code its not long distance its the new 905 area code.

Hey Younter,

Just let me know whether you're going OEM or aftermarket and I can shoot you a price. The best thing is to give us a call tomorrow, just ask for Darren.

Thanks :tiphat:

That makes sense, I'll ask Jazz about what he thinks of AMS pulley kit. I couldn't find any reviews on it AMS pulley Kit.
