Stadium Nissan: A Major Disappointment!
~2 weeks ago I placed an order for a new 370z. We discussed what I was looking to order. We confirmed everything, and then began pricing negotiations. I negotiated a price with the salesman and the sales manager, signed the sales order, then gave them my $1000.00 deposit. The deal was all cash no financing. They told me they were placing a factory order the next day and my car would be included with that order. I was told I could expect the car at the latest sometime in late June early July. I was assured they would be able to get me the car and the options I requested were not unusual or unattainable. The salesman told me he would keep me updated. The sales manager shook my hand and congratulated me on the purchase as did the salesman.
So ~2 weeks later, which brings me to this afternoon, I get a phone call from Stadium Nissan. I am told they will not be able to get me the car I ordered. The gentleman that called me was neither the salesman nor the sales manager I dealt with. The gentleman was in charge of placing orders with the factory. He said he also looked after searching to see if vehicles requested are available at other dealerships. I was blown away and completely caught off guard. I can not express how upset and disappointed I am at Nissan. I ordered a 2009 red 370z 6M Touring Coupe with Sport and Navigation. The explanation I was give goes something like this: apparently Nissan has halted production on all 2009 370z coupe models. Nissan has decided to stop production on the 370z coupe models to focus on the new 2010 370z roadster/convertible. The gentleman from Nissan told me he did not understand why Nissan was having such a short run on the 2009 370z coupes to focus on the 2010 roadster/convertible. He also said he had to call at least two other people in Calgary and let them know Nissan would be unable to place their orders. He told me there are no other red 370z M6 Touring Coupe with Sport and Navigation cars in Canada or on order to be shipped to Canada. I was then told this meant I would need to look at getting a 2010 and Nissan did not know the pricing or availability for that model. I was told it was not possible to get the car, or possible colour combination alternatives, at all. I won't compromise the sport or navigation package. Imagine my frustration and disappointment with Nissan. After this experience I am not even sure if I want to deal with Nissan any longer. It amazes me in the current economic environment Nissan would be willing to lose one sale. If it is not possible to get, or order a 2009 370z, as requested by myself, Nissan should stop offering them or advertising them for purchase! I was told by Stadium Nissan they could mail my deposit back to me. I told them I would swing by after work and pick it up. The gentleman said the check would be left at the front desk. When I got to Stadium Nissan their was no check ready for me nor one to be found. I told the salesman I am giving them until Saturday to return my deposit. The salesman said it would be ready Saturday for me. I called an alternative dealership, Fish Creek Nissan, tonight and spoke to a salesman about what happened at Stadium Nissan. I then asked him to see if they were able to find me the car I am after, as well as a second colour alternative choice. The salesman at Fish Creek will be speaking to his management team and finding out if Stadium Nissan's story is correct. I haven't completely given up my search. However, if Fish Creek Nissan comes back with the same story I will likely have no other alternative, but to stop chasing the car I want to buy. What a bunch of crap! Nissan, get your **** together! If anyone has any input regarding how I can locate and purchase the car I want please feel free to share your thoughts. I may or may not look into locating / purchasing one in the US and bringing it up to Canada. However, I am not sure if the situation in the US would be any different. The story from the guy ordering the car seems rediculous to me. Why would Nissan spend all this time and money on bringing out a brand new car - I doubt there are even more than a handful even on the roads in Canada right now - to not sell the vehicle. The have a ton of $$ in R&D, tooling, etc into a new car and they should be trying to sell as many as possible to cover that investment. It boggles my mind that this guys story would be true - I mean most dealerships don't even have their very first 370Zs on the lots yet so for this guy to say they are basically discontinuing them is whack...
As far as Nissan being on the ball I would send your experience to Nissan Canada's customer support and see if they can get to the bottom of this - its one of their representatives that are screwing you around from the sounds of it and its unlikely they will be keen on losing a potential customer because of Stadium's actions.... |

Thanks for the input. Stadium Nissan actually has a 370z in their showroom. It is either a Carbon Silver or Airstream colour. It is a M6 non sport, non navigation.
I agree about calling Nissan Canada Customer Service. From the story the guy at Stadium Nissan told me Nissan is stopping production on anymore new 2009 370z's to focus on making the 2010 roadster. I am guessing they probably have enough orders on the books already to keep production going until at least May, but who knows. I imagine sometime in 2009 Q3 or Q4, or who knows, Nissan would have to shift production back to the 370z coupe? Last edited by Ace; 04-10-2009 at 02:17 AM. |

Brasso Nissan probably still has two on their lot: a grey one which is base with no sport or nav and MT and a black one which is base plus nav.
I only briefly talked to Stadium Nissan and they weren't very helpful so I went with Brasso Nissan. Try them - they are the biggest Nissan dealer in Calgary. They actually have pre-ordered a lot of them. When I recently took my Xterra to Stadium for service, a service tech was very frank and said that Stadium was very late to reserve their allocation and it sounded like they missed out. Great information. I will be talking to Brasso on Saturday. If you can recommend anyone in particular to speak with let me know. Hopefully, the whole Stadium Nissan story is BS and I will be able to find one at an alternative dealer. I really had my heart set on getting one of these bad boys. They are awesome cars.

Hey Ace that's some terrible news about your 370Z. I feel sick to my stomach just thinking that the dealership would do that. My 370Z is on order from Brasso nissan...they tell me that it's going to be arriving in Vancouver april 29th. Just as AB370Z has told you, they have 2 on the lot...I was there on monday because I cannot stop thinking about getting my car. I put the deposit down on march 26th, it happened they had a 370Z on order that matched the one I wanted (Airstream, base touring model). I'm hoping that Brasso can have the vehicle to me by early May but it may be wishful thinking. Also I wonder if AB370Z's car is coming in the same group as mine.

I bet you guys are excited. I really am wishing I went to Brasso instead of Stadium. It sounds like I ordered mine around the same time as you. It is unfortunate the dealerships weren't open today. I would have been down there trying to order my car first thing this morning. Man, I am pissed at Stadium! I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the more I hear about others recently ordering and still getting their cars the more I am upset. Hopefully I can still get an order in and take delivery of a car before the end of summer/fall.

So here is the update on my 370z pursuit!
I called Brasso Nissan and made an appointment to meet the salesman. I told him my experience at Stadium. He told me he was unaware of there being any issues ordering the 370z coupes. He relayed the story to his sales manager. The salesman/sales manager found the story I was given from Stadium to be very strange. Anyway, after talking with the salesman and both sales managers they found a car for me. It is coming in with the next group of cars in ~ 3 weeks. I did make a compromise (possibly). I had to sacrifice the navigation system to get the red colour. So I was able to get, and order, a red M6 Sport Coupe. So down went my deposit. I went to Stadium earlier in the day and got my deposit back. There wasn't even an apology, or any remorse shown by Stadium over my experience. Oh well, their loss is Brasso's gain! Brasso also asked me if I was open to alternative colours to match the Sport & Navi options I originally wanted. I gave them my alternative colour choice. Brasso will keep looking for a car in my alternative colour choice with the Sport & Navi options I wanted. If they find one they said I can switch my order from the red one on order to the alternative colour choice with the Sport & Navi package. I am hopeful they can find an alternative Sport & Navi car for me. If they find one in my alternative colour choice I will definitely be jumping for joy. So far my experience with Brasso has been awesome. They seem to be going out of their way to find me the car I want. They are also "with it" enough to ask me for an alternative colour choice and if I am willing to compromise on some of my option choices to get the car for me. If they find me a car in one of my colour choices with the Sport & Navi package I will definitely be Brasso's BIGGEST FAN. Even if they can't find one, and the red M6 Sport Coupe actually comes in, I will tell everyone I know shopping for a vehicle to shop at Brasso! Brasso told me they could actually get me a Red Sport & Navi M6, but it would have to come from a June order. This meant the car would not arrive until late Sept. to early Oct. At that point I would be better to wait another year. The snow flys shortly after Oct. and there would not be much time left to enjoy driving the car before I would put it away for the winter. Anyway, a totally different impression at Brasso than I was left with at Stadium. Brasso definitely represents Nissan much better. Even just on a purely salesmanship level Brasso is way better! Hopefully everything goes as planned and discussed. Crossing my fingers. Thanks AB370Z for your help and recommendation. I wish 3 weeks ago I had started the hunt at Brasso. Things are looking up thanks to Brasso! |

Hey Ace that's great to see Brasso came through in the clutch. How killer would it be if all of our cars arrived in the next shipment? I can't wait till they phone and give me the VIN.

You're welcome...I'm happy to hear Brasso is helping you out. Wow, you went from getting one in June/July to one coming for you in 3 weeks (although that is with a compromise). It sounds like mine might be the shipment to arrive next after the one that has your and Zedhead's 370Z. My order preference is just like yours - touring with sport, nav and M6, although mine is blue. I also could have gotten one without nav sooner. It seems they don't reserve order too many fully loaded. |

I can't get over it! I got a call this afternoon and my car came in today! Yahoo! They were also very surprised at Brasso the car showed up today, as everyone thought it would arrive in 3 weeks. Talk about awesome service! Anyway, the car that showed up is the Red 2009 Nissan 370Z CS M6 Touring. I can hardly wait to pick it up. Hopefully the weather on Saturday is good. If it isn't good weather Brasso said I can leave it there for a few days.
Apparently two other 370's showed up. I think both are white. I will try and post pictures after I pick it up. |

Ace, you are one lucky new 370 owner. I'm chomping at the bit here, seriously I'm super jealous but happy for you given all the B.S. you had to deal with. Could you have possibly mistaken one of those white ones for Airstream? All the best in your new ride...are you going to follow the break in procedure or do a burn out right off the lot?
