to 3m or not to 3m?

who has 3m on the front end? likes dislikes....would you get it on your next car?
im thinking about it, but dont want it to stand out!

any help would be great.

I have it on the front bumper, 18" up the hood and into the fenders following the 18" line from the hood. Great for protecting against rock chips, etc. In fact barely one month after I bought the car and had it put on, someone backed into my front bumper on the passenger side. Left several scrape marks on the 3M. All I have to do is get the 3M reapplied, which will cost less than having the bumper repaired and repainted/replaced. I think it's a good investment. Have done it to previous cars too.

all of the bumper? can you send/post pics plz!
can you see it or do you have to look for it?
how much did you payfor it?

Sibze 02-28-2011 09:54 AM

100%. I did it!

Can't give you a price though, I had the dealer do it as part of buying the car. (Also tint)

All the pictures in my Album have the 3m on the front. (See below - you can't see it though!)

All the pics in my albums have the 3M on the car. You notice the line where the clear bra ends when the car is dirty, or when you look up close.

i have xpel, and i have 0 rock chips on on the front of my car. i'd say its worthwhile.

I'm really looking into getting this, definitely want to save the front end, I imagine this car is really prone to taking abuse from other cars on the roads (spitting rocks, etc)

I noticed no one mentioned if it really stands out on the car? I think some people said you can barely notice it

well i guess im going to get it! cant see it on Sibze car at all! did you do all of the front or just the hood and sides?

think i might do the all of the bumper and part of the hood, mirrors, lights and part of the fenders.

Sibze 03-01-2011 07:55 AM

I did all the bumper and first 1/4 of the hood. If I was doing it again to a new car I would also 100% get the rocker panels done

The most important thing to look for is a good reputable installer. The product still makes a difference since some are more optically clear than others, some are more resilient to discolouring from uv exposure and some have top coats like Clearshield.
It's best if you find an installer that can cover entire panels, this will virtually hide the edges of the product and make it pretty much unnoticable. But you have to find a shop that stocks really wide rolls which is expensive and they have to have the skills to install it as well.
Here are a few examples of my work.

Makes a huge difference. Took my 370Z and 240Z on a 700km drive one day. Poor 240Z was loaded with rock chips on the front air dam - none on the 370Z - same driving conditions.

that 72 is HOT!
any1 got a shop in the barrie area? also how much did it cost you in the end?
