Anyone Interested in "uprev" in Alberta?
There is a guy on 780 t00ners that has been talking to Cam at Lightspeed Innovations about getting "uprev" so Nissan/Infiniti guys have another tuning solution in Alberta. I thought I would pass on the info in case anyone is interested as I have heard a few guys talk about it. Here is the guys post below and the link to the thread if it works, I guess he wants a $500 deposit from 8 people to show commitment. I have not talked to Cam about this myself so I am not sure what a tune will cost or any of the details. I do know why he wants the deposit up front though, the Genisis guys all begged him to get Power Axle (a tuning system) then he spent a ton of money getting it and only 1-2 guys followed through and got tunes :icon43:.
If you have questions or need more info from Cam his email is cam@lightspeedinnovations.com Quote:

Really? Cam hasn't gotten Uprev yet? When I spoke to him in July, he said he was going to get it since Cobb was not supporting us anymore. At that time he told me I could book for September 2010 as that was the earliest availability and he would be all set up with Uprev. That's disappointing. I understand his position, but I'm not going to put a $500 deposit months in advance not knowing when he'll be set up to go. Plus that also means he hasn't tuned a lot of 370Z's. I would prefer to go to someone who's already set up and have done like a dozen Z's before. So far I know he's done your 370Z and another member's through Cobb.

I know he has been talking about it for awhile but lack of commitment has been holding him back last time I talked to him about it he said everyone says they want a tune but as he found out with the Genesis guys no one follows through. I think he has tuned about 5-6 370Zs with COBB, he tunes full standalones on all kinds of different cars all day everyday you won't find a tuner with more experience in Alberta, he has been tuning for over 15 years and he has tuned several forced induction G35s and 350Zs as well as turbo Sentras and the list of Nissans goes on. Good luck finding someone around here that has tuned 12 370s as no one else even seems interested in getting the software. I run a standalone so this won't benefit me much but I could use the uprev to turn off the slip, VDC and SES lights on my dash. Quote:

A few of us (2-4) in Edmonton have talked about possibly talking to Cam about a group deal, but I guess we'll see.

$500 deposit on something that's not a sure thing...? Not me!

I only talked to Cam once and he did not instill me with butts loads of confidence in his work or knowledge. So i now stay clear of lightspeed.

As much as I think Cam should have the UpRev program as part of his inventory to offer to new/present clients to grow his business, I can see how he would like a commitment from a few members to justify the purchase. The dealer program is expensive.
Now having a group buy to actually purchase the programs, cable, and have the car tuned by Cam, would be more interesting than just a tune/dyno with the UpRev program. Even the Cipher monitor program and cable group buy with a tune from Cam would get my attention a lot more, than just a tune. |

I guess he needs 5 more people.
The guy that is arranging it said the cost is $750 for uprev with a custom dyno tune on NA cars and slightly more if you are FI. Quote:

There is a lot of discussion about this in the ZEdmonton lounge in the social groups

So $750 per person for a dyno tune (once again assuming you only get 1 map) that is way to high and i wouldnt pay that if i still owned the Z. |
No, you do a baseline dyno run, then likely 2 or 3 more (or more if needed) dyno runs to adjust and tweak till optimized.

i understand that, i did 30+ dyno runs in one night with my cobalt to get the tune right. But what im asking is, is that all for 1 tune? Or does that include multiple tunes? I have 3 tunes (fuel economy, 91 octane performance and Nitrous with 94 octane) of which i can get dynoed then send the results (hp/trq graph, afr, egt or knock retard if any) And they will be adjusted if need be. So the $500 for me my 3 tunes, the sct device that also doubles as a code reader and then i pay $75 for my dyno runs at whatever shop i go to and then send the results in to get adjusted for free.
But if you guys are paying $750 for 1 tune and the dyno runs to get the tune perfect and then thats it. Personally i think theys way to much. Not to mention thats on a N/A set up, so the most someone would have is intakes, header, midpipes and exhaust...maybe a few other things, but nothing major that would require alot of time to dial in. |
As far as know that is for 1 tune, you would have to email Cam to confirm anything. I have seen US tuning shops selling the license for $600 with no tune so $750 with a dyno tune sounds fair.
