The Extra's - The Cost

I've done a search for recommended clear bra and tint installers, but very few mention the price. If you've had it done in the GTA area, whats a good price for a tint and a clear bra? I'll most likely go 18" on the hood, full nose wrap, mirrors and rocker panels. Considering A pillars but havent decided yet. Yeah yeah I know, that's a lot of wrapping!

The dealer is quoting me $1000 for the tint and the full wrap as decribed above. The shop dong the work is reputable and I know I think all things considered, it's not that outrageous. There's something to be said for picking up the car and it's all done already.

Your pricing should be depended on what film they use for both tint and protection.

I also added the A-pilars, start of the roof, and the part just behind the rear wheels.
If you're doing a lot, you might as well do it all...

The wrap is Solar Gard Clearshield. The tint is Solar Gard, although I'm not sure which grade.

Is your car white? I heard that clearshield has orange peel and yellowed faster and that would show up especially on white. But then again there are so many opinions and I have never actually seen clearshield. The latest 3M film I still believe is your best bet at the moment.

I'd cut the dealer out of the process. They're going to add a markup while doing nothing.

You can see SolarGard Clearshield on mine if you go to Zfest this weekend. I have the bumper, hood, full fenders, headlights, a-pillars, top of roof, mirrors, side rocker panels and behind the rear wheels.

They may actually do nothing, but I do get something in return for their mark up, which after calling around, is small. The car comes directly off the truck and is done before it goes anywhere and gets a single chance to get a single nick on it. Plus, when I pick up my new car, it's done. Time is money to me and that's worth something.

Thanks Pat for the comments. I checked out your website and have to believe if you covered your car to that extent, and considering your expertise, then Clearshield has to be a decent product.

It comes fully guarenteed for 5 years as most do and at half the price of Venture Shield, can be replaced in 5 years and I have a fresh wrap again.

Thinking it's they way to go.

When the car comes off the truck, its covered in dirt and RAIL dust, from transportation. i can almost guarantee that the dealer will not clar bar your car before installing the clear bra, which is an absolute must. A full detail must be done to remove contaminants, especially rail dust. You are, rather, more likely to wind up with a swirled up paint job under your clear bra, along with a swirled up paint job all around your car. they'll 'detail' your car and grind everything into the paint.

1000 dollars for the work you are having done is actually pretty good, and that good price, is probably a by product of the fact they are going to cut corners in the prep work, which is the most important part.

If you are a member of this forum, you're car will never be "done" :p

Another QFT. I spent many frustrating and aggravating weeks without my Z when it first arrived due to dealer incompetence with rail dust.

Sibze 09-09-2010 01:09 PM

My windshield was replaced because of tiny rock chips in the windows from transportation
