It sucks that the Canadian consumer still pays so much more than the American consumer for the same thing.

It sucks even more that I had to pay $40 to get invoice pricing. Where the heck was carsaver when I was car shopping back in the spring of 2010?

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to be reading the reports.

Invoice is what you can negotiate to, right? MSRP is what the retailer suggests the pricing should be?

On the report, the sport package seems to be included, can I assume $39,032 is doable without the options?

Can I print it out and use it to negotiate?

Invoice = How much the dealer bought it for, from Nissan.
MSRP = How much the dealer is selling at, without discounts

Don't print it out on how much others bought for, because it is basically useless, and may inflict unknown effects to the dealerships.

There is no way I'm gonna be payin MSRP and theres no way they are only going to charge the invoice.

so...what exactly is the use of knowing this? Should I aim for a price inbetween the 2?

Try to aim for somewhere between 3-10% over invoice. No dealer will sell for the same price that they paid for it.

It's all about timing. You can buy cars below dealer invoice. I've done it.

You have to consider this. Lets say a dealer buys 10 cars. Lets say for argument sakes, each car is $20,000. Now, over the next month, they sell 9 of those cars for a minimal profit of $1000 each. They've made $9000. So, if the 10th car is sold $1000 below cost, the dealer loses a $1000 and makes an overall profit of $8000. Now, mulitply that by a lot more cars and a lot longer selling period. Early in the year, prices are high and getting deals is harder.

Pretty simplistic but as cars sit in dealer showooms, other profits are applied against the cars invoice price to artificially lower it. All dealers do it and that's how you get below invoice pricing on rare occassions.

End of model year, or in the case of a Z, winter approaching and you can get them at a much better price point. I bought mine in September pretty much at invoice. If I wasn't dead set on white, I could have gotten a yellow one slightly below invoice for the exact reasons stated above.

Unless times have changed, the dealer does not buy cars from the manufacturer but sells them on consignment. Dealer 'invoice' is not the true 'net' price of the car. There's a little thing called 'hold back'. Go here and do some reading: new car prices, dealer scams, negotiating, dealer invoice price, Car buying tips

That said, in my neck of the woods, the dealer's attitude is take it or leave it because they are the exclusive Nissan dealer in Halifax and they know that the car will eventually sell for maximum profit. However, I did take Nissan up on their $10K off the 2010 roadster incentive last fall. That was thousands below 'invoice' but I have no way of knowing if that price I paid was above or below the dealer's 'net' price. Mind you I traded my '09 Z touring as part of the deal. Oh, the freight and delivery charges of $1580? We are being gouged. Compare this to our friends south of the border.

Yea they just dropped it from 4.9, I was originally going to purchase a genesis coupe but then they dropped interest rates to the same and obviously the 370 is a way better car. I'm planning on going in with 5k down and getting the coupe with auto (don't need sport/nav as I have an iPhone) and my offer was 47500 on road. Think that's a good offer? Any idea on what wait time is?

$47,500 on the road ( taxes & Freight PDI incl)
Taxes ~$5465
Freight / PDI ~ $1550 (I think this is what I paid)

List price: $40485.00 for A7 Base

They have only discounted it about $500.00 from MSRP. I think you can get a better deal. I got $2500 off MSRP

Not sure who you are dealing with in Toronto. I got better prices from Economy Wheels Nissan in Lindsay - $1800 off MSRP and Trans Canada Nissan in peterborough ( $ 2500 off plus rust proof & illum k.plates as well) - eventually bought from Trans Canada Nissan.

As far as leadtimes - they probably have 370z's in transit now from Japan. So there should be availability in your colour and style. I ordered mine in late Oct it took to Feb 1 to come in.

Do you know when they came out with the 2.9% interest rate? When I took delivery, my dealer didn't mention any changes in interest rate from 4.9 to 2.9?

Hope this information help.

btw - get the Nav system it is far superior to the smart phones and the back-up cam is a life saver. If you have not test drove on yet, there are some blind spots.
