Here's some pics from my visit at the dealership today. So the issue of Canadian fog light seems to be settled now...

I test drove the black one which is a Canadian touring with Nav, no Sport, and a MT. The sales manager believed they might be one of the very first Cdn dealers with 370Zs on their lot and it had arrived earlier than expected - they were expecting around mid-March.

Impressions:

The only caveat is that it has been a couple years since I last drove a 350Z so I can't give the 370Z as accurate of a comparison to the 350Z as some others might. First impression is that it does look amazing in person and I do love it. You can notice the slight decrease in size compared to the 350Z. I do like the lines on the roof. The headlights and tail lights do look great IMO. These two only had base touring rims, although while they didn't look bad, I would certainly go for the sport package.

The interior is definitely a step up in quality. That fuel gauge thing isn't that bad and the readout through the lights doesn't seem to be that big of an issue, but I didn't have glaring light to deal with. The interior does feel a little smaller than the 350Z as I remember; I'm 6 ft, 220 lbs and I do fit fine. The seats are certainly form fitting and comfortable. For some reason I thought I heard they weren't power seats, but they do have the same power controls as before and the manual lumber adjustments. I didn't play around with the NAV but it looked pretty neat. The windshield seems quite different and is almost a little on the small side so takes some getting used to. Same for the back window. Great visibility, much like the 350, is not its strong suit, but if you want that, don't buy a small 2 seater sports coupe I guess.

As for driving, you do notice the big jump in power (of course I'm comparing to a 287 bhp 2003 350Z) right away, although I didn't really drive it that hard...we still have sand and pee gravel and the odd ice patch on our winter roads so the salesman wouldn't have appreciated me spinning rocks everywhere! It feels more tight and nimble than the 350 and the steering feels even more precise. Shifting seemed very similar but the pedal positions felt a little different.

About the only real complaint on driving I had, which many have brought up before, is that the rear road noise does seem a bit excessive.

The dealer said getting a fully loaded one is not easy in Canada as very few orders of them have been allocated yet. Of course the salesman said I should act fast if I want to sign up on a loaded one that has already been pre-ordered by the dealer - they could change the color at this point to my liking. I am a little on the fence between white and blue...I owned the bright silver before so want something different. It would arrive here in the May/June timeframe if I go for that one. I didn't bother with haggling on price yet. To decide soon...

I wouldn't be surprised if the Calgary dealers were one of the first. The Vancouver dealership still had their's in PDI on Friday (although there are about 6 Nissan dealerships in Van and I only went the the one closest to my hotel). I'm told they will be here the end of April locally....

Good info, thanks for posting. Did you happen to notice/check if your test car had heated side mirrors?

Yes, where is the switch to turn it on? is it in the headlight stalk or a seperate button? It appears the U.S. model has all the guts, but no switch.

See attached pic of the back of the light under bumper, wires and hardware seam to be in the box.

According to the manual on page 2-32, the switch is part of the light stalk. The manual states "To turn the rear fog light on, turn the headlight switch to the (icon for headlight position), then turn the switch to the (icon for fog light) position. To turn it off, turn the switch to the OFF position."

I don't believe we can turn our light stalks to that position? I would sure like to make mine work when I receive my Z. Thanks for posting the picture.

A picture on a right-hand drive model. The switch is inboard of the light switch.

I don't own one yet as mine is on order and to arrive in May 09. I can confirm the switch is indeed here - the salesman fiddled with this to turn it on when I was taking the picture.

As for where to buy, I am sure you could order it through any Canadian Nissan dealership parts department. Go to "Find a Retailer" on the Canadian Nissan website - Nissan Canada. I deal with Brasso Nissan of Calgary, Alberta who is one of the largest volume dealers in Canada as I have been told. Maybe they can help you and ship to you?

I have did the opposite by ordering Nissan USA parts from a US dealer before they were available in Canada (eg an IPod adapter for my Xterra about 6 months before available here). Cost may be the only issue for the parts.

I hope this helps...

Thanks AB307, I don't understand what's the problem with US version cars!! Why don't they like to have a rear fog light? Mercedes, Jag and Range rovers have rear fog lights and is really helpful when it gets foggy. US just want to be difficult form nothing>>>...

Installing the fog light in a US model will entail adding a separate off/on switch as the column light stalk most likely has additional wiring not included in the wiring loom on US models even if you were to purchase the light stalk separately.

I would like to get it as a 4th break light! Can't be that hard of a MOD. The blank plate is ugly! But I do love the car!

Great find AB. I am going to take some day time picture tomorrow and see what's under the rear bumper. I can see this as a small project.
