However, I doubt being a "US citizen" is the only way to get there...e.g. what if you are a Canadian snowbird (i.e. Canadian resident living in US for period of time but that is not a US citizen) and buy it in US, license it and drive/keep the vehicle at a US address for 6 months or more before bringing back to Canada? My guess is that would work too, as other scenarios, so long as purchased by someone with a US address and remaining in the US for the specified period of time.

^ it's been a while since I checked, but I think you may be correct on that.

...& if the dollar ever comes back close to parody,
I suspect this will be a more lively discussion.

I imported a 350Z in 2007 from buffalo...it was when the dollar was at par and Mike Barney nissan would sell to canadians no prob. Got my slave cylinder replaced in oakville under warranty and it was no problem what so ever...Dont believe everything on the net.

JMO, but you might as well get PO'd now & get it out of your system.
It's too bad, but I doubt you'll get anywhere with this.

I'm waffling between white & blue.
Since blue has the dark interior, that's probably the way I'll go.

I'm writting Nissan Canada an e-mail regarding my displeasure with the lack of choice and the apathy of their sales people (regardless of the fact that they are independantly owned, etc - they still represent Nissan....) I'd encourage you guys to write as well. The more people who make a noise the more likely they are to listen to our "voice"

Actually, talking to the GMs at some dealerships, this actually sounds like a true statement for the first shipment. Some dealerships aren't even getting any 370zs in the first shipment (I would estimate Canada would get around 300-400 total in the year). This means that it won't be until March or April until some dealerships get a Z at all. I am looking for one in Prussian Blue and all of GTA is not even getting one. The only dealership that is getting it in that colour is Kingston Nissan. Anyhow, I have the official invoice pricing for the 370z in Canada. I will post the numbers soon.

I was told the same thing by my dealer.
I actually saw the first shipment inventory on his computer.
Very few 6MT as well.

I say you'd think Nissan would give more customer support by giving the consumer what they want. So then the sales guy has the gaul to tell me that they are giving me what I want and that's just the way it is. If I want he can get the local uphostery shop to replace the seats for around $1900 to get the color I want. You know something along the lines of yea it sucks and I really wish we could do something to help you out.... or let me dig a little deeper and see if there is any way around this, etc. But no they expect me to buy a car from him just because he's standing there. Man these sales guys are really pissing me off.

That said the guy in Nanaimo has been very friendly and helpful. He's gonna try and I doubt from past history he's gonna be able to get me what I want but at least the guy is trying and wants to sell me a car. Seriously WTF is wrong with all these sales people! I'd be happy with at least some BS sales pitch....

Ppl are losing their jobs left and right and you're worried about the colour of your seats?

Don't talk about the economy because it actually seems like it's the last thing on your mind.

"I want this colour"
"That's not an option sir"
"But I'm buying ALL of this car and it costs so much to me?"
"I understand but like I said, Canada has a very streamlined production line for this car"
"But the car costs $50000? I want this colour!"

If I was the dealer that talked to you, I would have stopped and asked if I could talk to your dad or something because it does seem like you're an idiot.
I'm not trying to be mean but comprehension doesn't seem like a high point to you.

nogoodname 03-08-2009 08:56 PM

ok, in Canada, you gotta pick what ever Z they are gonna get....it's just the way it is.
or you can wait til they start some factory orders.

thats why i got a black G instead of blue slate....

FricFrac 03-09-2009 02:47 AM

Knux are you trolling? My point was if the economy is weak you'd think putting the customers wants first would be more of a priority rather than the other way around.... wtf does the colour seats I want have to do with weather I care about people loosing their jobs? You don't know the first thing about me so give your head a shake....
