Time Attack @ Stratotech on June 7th

Well i went to stratotech for the first time tonight. Man is that alot of fun. Got 4 races in, 6 laps per race. Wasnt timed tonight so no presure on learning. Even though i over lapped 2 evo's and a honda civc. Defently gotta get a oil cooler kit. I went into limp mode 2 times on my second last laps of each run. Either i drive in 2nd and shift into 3rd on the straight aways or i stay in 3rd the whole run and not get the power out of the turns. I did pretty good though, first race i almost lost it about 3 times in a few turns. So who wants to go, Jules im looking at you...few guys were talking about you.

Yeah I want to go back but won't without an oil cooler our VQ's are way too hot even after 2-3 laps full bore.... But now I know this track and know my lines...Next time i'll be faster than 72.00 with street tires.
I'm going on course in Ontario soon too so maybe in july or August depending on my tires and money.

I agree a oil cooler is mandatory for track use. I'm waiting to get one installed.

Stratotech test run will be high on my list this summer.

See you out there

djpathfinder 06-01-2010 09:32 AM

Which oil cooler are you thinking of installing?

Zat_Zuma 06-01-2010 09:38 AM

Not sure yet as I'm going to be making my own. But more than likely a Sterab cooler.

Snakes709 06-01-2010 09:53 AM

im going to be going with the Z1 or Stillen oil cooler, might order when my claim comes in. Never found out until yesterday where limp mode was, for you that dont know its at 140*C. Cuts in at 6000rpm though so its not that bad. Instead of going down the pack stretch in 2nd-3rd i was going 3rd-4th. Hey jules how did your brakes hold up. Mine did good for the touring brakes. Although after my 2nd run the front brakes were actually smoking when i came into the pits.

ugh.... i want to go so bad....... stupid work schedule!

Sounds like fun. I might go and watch first one day. I'm not sure I'm comfortable racing with other fast cars quite yet...at least not until I take a HPDE course first. The difference between this and Gran Turismo Prologue is, damage is for real.

I agree on the GTP...i play Forza myself and its alot different..lol. Dont feel uncomfortable with other cars. They try and match you up with other cars that have the same power/handling and your skills. They paired me with a honda civic and a evo. Group A was the Z06 modded evos and a few other high end cars. The last run though was just a mix of everyone. If your on the track with a higher end car, lets say a GTR and the know he is going to pass you, they will blue flag you and you just move to the side on the back stretch.

Even stillen ones are from setrab as well as the nismo one so setrab oil cooler is the way to go.
I did not use the hard braking that often so I was doing alright brake wise.... I was border line drifting thrue corners well in between grip/drift driving.

Snakes709 06-01-2010 05:46 PM

On the 2nd last turn, i think 7 or 8...which ever one is the hair pin...i drifted around that one...almost feels like im going to loose control, its cool though.

Nice pics! Did you have a friend shoot from above?

Oh, do you have to buy your own helmet? Any suggestions as to brand and where to buy?

Snakes709 06-02-2010 01:22 PM

No i didnt have a friend with me, it was 4:30 and i seen that there were 4 spots open so i jumped in the car as fast i could to get there by 5:00. These were taking from a guy that works there. Any helmet that is DOT approved will work. This is my helmet, cost $400 but i also have a ZX6R so its pretty much top of the line.
