Canadian Colour Combos

As you may know, Canada has been limited to specific exterior and interior colour combinations. Quick question, anyone tried to order a non-standard colour combo yet?

I don't have the answer to that ...but has that been even possible with other Nissan models in Canada, past or present? I have never looked in that.

The base touring model in Canada even comes stock with LSD whereas part of the US sport package I believe.

With the difference in the features other than just color, I would suspect no...however, I too would like a different exterior/interior combo. Anybody know if possible?

I asked one of the Vancouver dealerships and they said "No" but then again he was putting zero effort into selling me the vehicle. I guess they figure the first batch sells itself and they aren't interested in putting any effort in for a potential sale. (In fact the other six dealerships didn't even respond). I see absolutely no reason if you are ordering one in from the factory why they couldn't put whatever colour seat in you want. Just take one from the other coloured seat pile and bolt it in - duh The sales man told me "They will not adjust seating, a USA 350Z is not made to the same specifications. To attach your name to a 370Z is only a $500 deposit. We will not be discounting this vehicle due to demand." I told him the US 370Z (not the 350Z) had the options of different coloured seats with the interior as an example and of course he used that to come up with the seats being different in the US and Canada - unlikely but my point was that they can provide them in the US models and they make different colours for the Canadian models (most likely identical) so why wouldn't we be able to order it in to our specs.

FWIW, I spoke to a Calgary dealership again over the weekend. I have a copy of the Cdn spec sheet (matches what is shown on the website from what I can see). The salesman also told me the following:
1) floor mats are standard in Canada (as they always are I think).
2) there is a further optional rear storage vinyl mat cover available in Canada (mentioned on US website I think); the retractable hatch cover is standard on the Canadian models too.
3) Kick plates are only black in Canada; no illuminated ones, although I suppose you could separately order from the US and install yourself...but probably not worth the hassle.
4) Exterior/interior colour combos for Canadian orders only as listed on the Canadian website...no special orders of colour combos available in the US
5) This dealer will have the first 370 on their lot in March and are taking orders - they estimate 8-12 weeks for a factory order.

Thats crap. I'm paying $50K I should be able to pick what colour interior I want.... no choice? Come on Nissan try catering to your customers just a little. And the interiors are already made - its not like we're asking for a custom interior....

Dude, you are preaching to the choir...go write a letter or start a petition to Nissan Canada if you think it will help...

The other way to look at it is that Canadians are now getting more bang for our buck with the 370 than the 350 IMO...I personally would rather have less choice in Canadian colour combos and instead have a more reasonable overall price offered.

From Nissan's perspective it's all about reducing inventory.
With the lower volume of sales in Canada, it helps keep cost down.

I'd love more choice too, but I'm also in favour of keeping costs in line.

I'm ordering my car in so it has nothing to do with inventory.... You would think something as minor as picking a seat from the Frost pile instead of the Charcoal pile at the factory would be easy enough to do. A little flexibility would go a long way esp when business is so poor they are laying off 20,000 employees. A little customer service would be nice....

The bottom line is that if your that passionate about a certain interior/exterior color combination, you will have to order one from a US dealer, to get what you want.

At least your close enough to the US border to make it a little easier. Unfortunately, Nissan Canada hasn't learnt that customers know how to cross border shop and get what they want. Until your local dealership keep losing sales to the US and has no local sales ......... nothing will change.

Sure...

But if they want to cut costs by reducing choices.... why on earth would they make FROST the only option for exterior colours like yellow and white....why not just stick with black???

mind boggling

It's a strange world these days....
I used to be able to custom order a BMW but can't anymore.

What made it more ridiculous was when I ordered my Z4M.
The cars were made in N.America, yet....
N.America could NOT special order but Europe could order just about anything they damn well pleased.
Including ANY BMW paint colour past or present.

just....tick n tocked...
