Going to the dealer tomorrow. Need input.

Hey everyone, as the title states, I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to talk about getting the 370Z. I'm probably going to go with a 5 year lease, so I was wondering how much I SHOULD be paying monthly, so I could compare the info some of you may give me vs what my dealer will offer to me. Any help is appreciated!

Reality 04-16-2010 12:15 PM

I would go in to talk about a purchase. Get the price somewhere close to your range, then hit him with the lease...

GL MAN!

Should just go to Nissan canada and play with the Payment tools, I found that they are very close to what the deal will offer minus insurance and any additional add ons like 3M protection and such.

One thing I have noticed is that the 3yr lease is a lower % rate then the 4-5yr, even though this won't make a huge differance in interest paid but compare the payments

mikemerton 04-16-2010 02:01 PM

I hope things work out for you but isn't five years an awfully long time to lease? Have you crunched the numbers to determine what will save you more money over 60 months?

Not making judgements here, just speaking from leasing experience....the shorter the better, given that all you're doing is paying for the company's depreciation costs.

Again, good luck!

DjSquall 04-16-2010 02:03 PM

The payment calculator is giving me a price of $800- $1000/month. But the thing is that, our murano which was $50-odd thousand, is only $500/month on the lease. That's why I was wondering if any of you guys are paying a rate that's according to the payment calculator, or something else. And the lady we are going to so far gave us the best quotes out of all the dealers we got in touch with.

z370z 04-16-2010 04:24 PM

The calculator on the site is shiat, go in and talk numbers. Be stern but make sure you have a final number (which isn't too low.. do your research) and if they are not willing to meet you, just leave the number and your name/phone on his desk and walk away. Go to another dealership and talk numbers with them.... I've done the dealer to dealer war before, it works! I know you want the black cherry also which is 2010, you would have a better chance of a bargain on an 09, if you're trying to keep your price down.

One other thing, get the idea of leasing out of your head.... it would be wiser to buy on with a decent rate and sell the car in the end than lease and lose your money plus maybe have to pay extra on overage in KM's...... trust me when you get the car you will not want to stop driving it!

Good luck! :happydance:

Hope to see ya out rollin at the future meets!

Thanks z370z, I will definitely keep that in mind tomorrow :)

DjSquall 04-17-2010 07:25 PM

Update: got the car financed, right now it's in the shop getting detailed, clearcoat, rust protection, spoiler & intake. I went for the 09 model w/diamond graphite color and beige interior. Looks soo sexy :D turned out that black cherry paint actually looks like total crap.

Getting the car back on Wednesday!!!!!

Sibze 04-17-2010 09:37 PM

Congrats on the purchase!!! You should come to our meet!!!

IDZRVIT 04-18-2010 08:55 AM

What kind of deal did you get for an '09?

clearcoat should have come on the car? rustproofing? meh, you got hosed if the dealer got that crap onto your contract

fullmonty 04-18-2010 10:11 AM

By clearcoat he may mean Clear Bra

DjSquall 04-18-2010 11:32 AM

Yep yep, the clear bra stuff. This is going to be my daily driver for the next 5 years so I want that car protected against anything. Plus they guarantee it for 10 years. Which means if there's a spot of rust on the car in the next 10 years, they fix it for free.

And I paid $42k and change for the car.

z370z 04-18-2010 02:12 PM

Base? Or did you slip sport and/or nav into it too? We have a meet next Sunday! Hope to see ya out

DjSquall 04-18-2010 02:25 PM

It's fully loaded :) and I'll do my best to make it :)

Da.Menace 04-20-2010 06:38 PM

Hold on a second.....
so you paid $42xxx, OTD, for a 09 with sport+navigation?

DjSquall 04-20-2010 07:13 PM

Yeah. Sounds about right. Grand total was 51k after the optional stuff

Da.Menace 04-20-2010 09:07 PM

Oh so thats not $42k OTD.. lol..
I was like.. Its impossible for a 09 w/Sport + navi for $42k OTD. $51k OTD sounds about right, as I got my 10 w/Sport for $48k flat OTD

DjSquall 04-21-2010 05:16 AM

Nice nice. The monthly payments for the '10 were just too ridiculous for my budget :(

IDZRVIT 04-21-2010 06:38 AM

What was the difference in price between an '09 and a '10?

DjSquall 04-21-2010 07:58 AM

About 10 grand. They had one there for 36k. But I wanted a/t since I don't drive stick

370Z_Fan 04-21-2010 12:58 PM

Which dealership did you go to?

The price difference between 09 (Invoice Price) and 10 (for the deal I got) was approx $700 difference after tax...

This is for 3-Coat Paint w/Sport.

DjSquall 04-21-2010 04:56 PM

Willowdale Nissan @ yonge/steeles

wunderbar911 04-23-2010 10:53 PM

Just wondering what was your approach to lowering the dealer's MSRP? 42k for sport+navi sounds like a really good price considering the sport is 4k and the navi is 2.5k.

I originally was pretty settled on a 328i coupe but test drove a 350Z convertible today and it was a nice drive and that has got me re-thinking. So, I was just wondering how your session went with willowdale just to get a feel for what tactics they may use. My local dealer has none on the lot at all and they say that it has to be ordered from their central pool of 370z. Does anyone know if this is true? I only was able to find one in stock at the st. clair dealership (carbon silver/persimmon interior).

Where are you in Canada? $48K OTD sounds like you got a good deal, which dealership is this? Did you have to pay the stupid admin fee?

Im in Toronto. Yep I like to think that I got a good deal off the dealership, since the 2nd best dealership offered me 49,200 OTD. I'm not sure why theres a 1.2k difference but whatever, as long as I get what I paid I'm happy with that.

What admin fee are you talking about?

Me and parents got 2 cars: I got the Z and they got a FX35. That's why I got such a good deal.

I'm not sure about this, but isnt admin charges for lease/finances only?

DjSquall 05-13-2010 05:57 AM

No idea WTF admin fees are, I was happy enough about getting the Z as my first car that I didn't really give a damn lol.

BMW are way over rated for a car that falls apart after 3 years.

That is "Bovine Scatology" (ie: B.S.). BMW makes very good automobiles. In fact, they rival Nissan's quality. I mean, I love my Nissan... but to say that "blanket statement" about BMW's....?! Come on.:ugh2:

DjSquall 05-13-2010 12:17 PM

Everybody I have ever known that has had a Beamer for over 3 yrs complains about how much they begin to break down. So I will stand by my statement.

They are hella fun, when NEW.

$500 / month is alot of money to pay on something you don't really own.....unless you like changing cars every couple of years.

Considering how much you may end up driving the car because you enjoy it so much a lease may work against you if the lease limits the number of miles per year you can put on the car AND / OR contracts you to pay for all wear & tear.

If you can't buy it through some finance means I would NOT recommend leasing it.

They make good cars, yes. Quality cars? No.

How many old bmw's do you see on the road? 99% of them are brand-spankin new. This is due to the fact that they cannot withstand the test of time.

Nope. It's a fee for doing up the paperwork. The last vehicle I bought new in 2003 the fee was not included in the delivery charge back then but was tacked on separately. I refused to pay it and got up to walk out the door. They dropped the $300 fee.
