i should have bought my car with a credit card to max out the 5% cash back reward . didn't think of it then :)

If the dealer where I bought mine would have allowed it, I could have put $18k on my credit card. And cleaned up with the cash-back at year's end. But alas, they did not allow credit card payments. Something about the fees that they have to pay the credit card companies.

(I paid 100% cash)

The max my dealer would let me put was $2K on my VISA - I did it for the air miles - the rest was a cashier's cheque. May as well get whatever bonus you can out of the deal - just don't use it as credit! Most dealers won't anyhow...
