New Member, New Owner

Hey there
New to this forum and excited to be here.
2nd car for me as I had a 300Z back in the day and loved it.
New 2019 370Z sport coming soon (mid June hopefully) and since its been awhile, curious to hear what you more experienced owners think these cars need or I should consider.
In the west end of the GTA so if you know of shows or meet ups pass that along too.
Thanks everyone. Let the summer begin!

ShinyBlueZ 05-23-2018 07:27 PM

Welcome! You chose one of the best and worst colours. Looks great when clean. Goodluck keeping it clean though! (Speaking from experience)

Welcome and congrats. See you around in the GTA West!

Look into ceramic coating. You can do it yourself which is a TON cheaper or get it done professionally but will help a allot with keeping your paint looking good and easier to clean as well. I've got a black z also and its such a pain and the factory paint/clear is weak imo, chips easy.

I'm very familiar with keeping Black clean.
Speaking of which, what products do you use.?

Any suggestions?

To protect the front end from rock chips, clear bra is definitely thicker and the best way to go.

I would recommend still doing the ceramic coating on the entire car which shouldn't cost you much especially if you do it yourself. A well reviewed ceramic coating is CQuartz UK https://www.autogeek.net/cquartz-uk-edition.html There are a ton of reviews online & youtube and allot of How-To's. The thing with ceramic coatings are the costly side is paint correction BEFORE applying the ceramic coating but since your car will be brand new, you may not need to do that... but even that you could do yourself if you wanted to lol assuming the paint is good when you get the car.. all you'd need is to buy the ceramic coating itself and apply it yourself.

You could just pay someone to do it for example http://www.ceramicpromississauga.com/ but it tends to be expensive and one could argue the ceramic coating is not much better than those you can buy yourself

Meguiars gold wash using double buckets
Meguiars ultimate wax
Meguiars ultimate compound/polish
Meguars ultimate qd
Mothers clay bar set

The clear bra/ceramic might be worth doing but wont stop the car from getting dirty. It will. Even after a drive i get dust on the rear.

They are good to prevent chips. My front bumper is in chippy condition. Hood has some chips too. My fenders, doors and hatch are another story though!

I would still wash clay and polish before applying. The car has micro dirt on it from transporting.

Thanks for the info.

I agree that the Car Bra is the way to go. As I keep my cars for at least 10 years it's worth the investment to me.
Have an appointment tomorrow with http://www.conceptwraps.ca.
Great reviews and amazing work.

Appreciate all the info.

Think I'm going to have the car sent directly from delivery to get its Bra put on, so they will correct the paint prior to installation.

Micro dust is the issue, yes. Just hope there aren't too many issues with the paint.

Will only use the 2 bucket system for washing, but wasn't sure of what products are out there now. Been driving a 12 year old suv for a while so the baby days are over for her.

Thanks for sharing your system. Sounds good.

Make sure who ever puts the clear bra on clays it first :). Clear bra was best investment I’ve made so far

I talked to the shop yesterday and they said precisely the same thing!;correct and clay bar prior to installation,
Makes complete sense.

Can I ask how much of the car did you get covered? I would love to do the entire car, but out of my budget...

ShinyBlueZ 05-27-2018 09:09 PM

Mine has the front 1/3 of the hood, front 1/4 of the roof, mirrors, and back of the side skirts.

I wish my front bumper was done though. That thing gets hit by the most pebbles. Do the bumper! :excited:

Bumper for certain along with the same areas you had done. Think it's worth the investment.

She can't get here quick enough. Getting too impatient.:eekdance:

mishuko 05-28-2018 06:51 AM

Bumpet is plastic but takes most heat. The hood wouldnt be bad either.

Or you can be me and get hit with a rock the size of a small planet between the windshield and roof. Shatter cracks and dented rood ftw!

alcheng 05-28-2018 02:46 PM

Welcome to the Z world!!!

You will love this car!!

for Clear Bra, yes, do it ASAP you get the car...

but don't get the dealer to do it cos they just sub-contract to someone else to do it thus it's better to do it directly with the shop to save time, money and in case, after sales service.

i will suggest full bumper, full hood, partial fender, A-pillar and mirror.

If possible, the side skirt.

as for cleaning products, yes, MeGuiar's has the best products out there, Gold Class Wash and the Gold Class Liquid Wax are the best twins to go.

As for tires, go with Simoniz Long Life Tire Shine Kit, it's the best kit I've ever used on tires, (I just look it up and it's actually on sale at Canadian Tire right now, $10)

Holy crap!!

That's horrible, but sounds like MY luck.
All the time and energy to keep your ride sweet and then something like this happens....

Don't know about you, but something like that would just break my heart. ;(

Hope you and your ride are ok.

Hi and thanks. :tiphat:

Not my 1st z. That was away back "in the day"... Probably well before your time. Had 300zx back then and I enjoyed it so looking forward to this ride too.

Thanks also for the info on Meguires products. Brother in law in a bit of a Vette nut and he uses some of their products too.

Hopefully will post some pictures on here.... Whenever she arrives.

Congrats on the new car ! As per the guys/gals above re clear bra , I also had the A pillars done also. FWIW, when the dealer does the prep & peels off those white shipping sheets, they may (probably) leave a residue from the adhesive used to install them. Nothing serious though , but soap & water won't remove it.I washed my car a few times & when I was drying it off (with my leafblower) I could see dull vertical lines or narrow stripes depending on the angle you were looking at it . Soap wouldn't take it off so I just happened to have a container of silicone/wax remover handy from use on previous cars. Wiped it down with that & rewashed the car. I can still occasionally see a couple of places I may have missed. That pic you posted is a good reference starting point.Enjoy the ride !!:tiphat:

Very smexy! Welcome to the community/forum. I hope you enjoy your car as every bit as we do.

Go with the washing instructions others have given you here, then apply the clear bra as you see fit (good, fenders, bumper etc).

Also, pump shell 91 gas, it's ethanol free (no I don't work for Shell). What else can I tell you? Oh, always "obey" the speed limit:driving:

2nd time around w another 370z.

Just got her today. 2010 w 98k miles and in great shape from having prepurchase inspection at Nissan dealer.

Couple quick as:
1- Bumper has some deep old bug marks, can that be buffed out or just needs repainting?

2- Looking for a set of 19” rays tires and wheels

Sorry to hijack thread but figure Austin thread best to get local help.

Tia,

Ian B

Zyonara91 06-06-2018 03:18 PM

Congrats bud! Enjoy the car to its fullest. When you drive around and see another Z, give the obligatory thumbs up:tiphat:

Hi and thanks,!

I have a really great sales guy - he's been following the car all the way from the boat to the transport to the delivery truck. As soon as it showed up he took the keys and parked it until I came to see her. Wouldn't even let the PDI guy touch it in case there was any plastic shipping materials I wanted left on or saved. Knew I wanted to phot everything.

So yes, I'll have her for about 10 days before she gets dropped off for bra, paint correction and ceramic coating. $$ well spent as I keep my cars 10 years and figure it might save me from a repainted down the road.... Maybe silly but just me.

I had 3 Z owners do that within an hour or so the other day. One guy in a red roadster was busy lighting a smoke as we met at a light.Another young lady in what appeared to be a fairly new white roadster was too busy texting on her phone. Is at beside one guy in a silver roadster with the top down & he didn't even as much as look over to say hi. I do get a lot of thumbs up from non Z owners & pedestrians. I have had a few that did wave though.:tiphat:

Ladydirector 06-06-2018 08:53 PM

Can't abide ignorant people...
I mean we have the car in common... Just wave and say "hi".... Or get out of the way. :driving:
