Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ owners
When our OEM Potenza RE050As inevitably wear out, I am seriously considering replacing them with the Michelin PS A/S 3Plus
Michelin I would very much appreciate hearing the experiences of cold-country owners of the 3Plus, especially any experience with minor or major amounts of snow and slush. Tire Rack (Our vehicle will be summer-only, but it can snow at any time of the year in Alberta, especially during a pleasant trip on Alberta's famous Icefields Parkway, but other places as well. My wife and I will almost certainly be driving in the mountains next summer and I'd like to be on tires that can at least muddle through just about any form of water.) At this moment I'm not interested in reading comments from people who own alternative all-season or the relatively new all-weather tires. Thanks! |
I'm only a year late to this thread (new here), but the Potenza's on the used Z we just picked up did not pass safety (at 32,000km). I spec'ed MP AS3+ on the car as a replacement (it will be a summer daily, not a track car). With only 20 miles or so on the car (highway and 2-lane rural) in slush to get the Z home, I can say that I was impressed with the handling. Definitely confidence inspiring, although I cannot give you a back to back comparison or tell you anything about tire life. My selecting these was based on the Tire Rack comparison, and that one of my fleet cars at work uses the AS3 (now 3+) - not the longest lasting rubber in the fleet, but a good solid sport highway tire on a heavy car.

Regardless, because the response to this thread has been far less than I expected, I hope you post further updates about your experiences driving in snowy conditions, as well as handling and tread life in general under all driving conditions. Thanks again. |

We have the AS3 on an older MB S550 saloon that does mainly highway. That's a heavy car, and AWD. We get just shy of 50,000 km out of the Michelin's in that application. |

Please report back when your Z is on the road in the spring. |

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 plus
I am moving to Cleveland soon, my wife has a 4x4 truck, but the Z is my daily driver. I was planning on purchasing a set of these all season tires and am hoping somebody else could give me their opinion of them.
