Mine failed at around 5000 kms.

It happened slowly for me - drove it home at night and it felt like I had to push the clutch closer to the floor to shift, tried to drive it the next morning and the clutch was to the floor.

The dealer was great though, had it fixed under warranty within a day of the parts arriving.

read my previous post. if you watch your fluids regularly you should be able to notice it as it starts to go. unless the seal just spontaneously ruptures and you get a dropped pedal.

I had 39k on my car before I swapped mine in a preventative maintenance swap not because it was failing.

The master usually gives some warning - the pedal will get soft.

The slave rarely gives warning - and once it goes, you are stranded.

Mish has the right idea. Keep an eye on the clutch fluid for discoloration and contaminants. The best preventative maintenance you can do (aside from replacing the CSC before it fails), is to keep the fluid clean.
