Toronto Z's, where do you guys service your Z?
was wondering where some of you get work done on your Zs. My engine light came on a week or so ago and before taking it to the dealership, i wanted to have another shop check it out for a initial opinion and to see if it matches the dealership, this way ill be confident taking the car to them and its still under warranty

i take mine to speedstar in markham @ hwy 7 and mccowan. they've done my fluids (trans, lsd, clutch, brake, oil), cbe and rotors/pads on my car. i'm sure they can diagnose your CEL maybe even fix it.
do you have an OBD reader? if you could get the codes (not clear them) atleast you can arm yourself with what to expect when going into the dealer i'd offer to drive over and let you run it but i lack the obd reader party =P |

im in the rosedale area, like 10 mins or so from eatons.
i took my car to a mechanic i know and he tried 2 different obd scanners but it wouldnt pick up power and he said it could be a fuse or sensor. but he was closing up shop and said just take it to the dealer since i have warranty. but i still want to know what the issue is before handing it over to them. was making a left turn from the lights, pressed the gas and when your car changes gears (auto) i heard a low POOF sound and it went into limp mode and rolled to a stop, as it was rolling i pressed the gas but wouldnt budge, pulled over, put in park and it wouldnt go past 2500-3500 rpms when i tried revving, turned the car off, tried calling people, 5 - 10 mins later turned the car on and it was perfect and has been since it occurred on nov 8. bought new. |

here are my examples of bad service by them 1) ordered refills for wipers, paid, come back they didnt have my order. showed them reciept and then they said oh... sorry for inconvenience. had to go back 2) i ordered rotors/pads -> got the rear rotors and pads had to come back for fronts paid up front again. pick up the rotors and go home check the serial numbers. they gave me 2 sets of rears. like wtf. went back about to put them on full blast... 'sorry for the inconvenience' 3) during that rotor ordering moment one of the service desk girls answered the phone 'honda service department' her colleague called her out on it the 3rd time... 4) when i was shopping for a Z, they had a 2010 with 36k on the lot. they were asking 34 solid. would not budge... said how it was a rare colour and blablabla. i walked away and picked up one for 30k with half the mileage. |

your car shouldn't make any poof sounds. limp mode on a new car is very rare. something is definitely broken |

ya i guess ill have speedstar or someone check it out first and then take it to nissan after since its covered under warranty and see if they say its the same issue as what speedstar or my first shop says.. i coulda sworn there was a Z member and he owned a shop.. this sucks big time, hope its not a huge issue |

not a bad decision to diagnose it somewhere else then take it to the dealer so you have a general idea what's going on. i would be cautious about driving it and tow it if possible. you wouldn't want to compound the problem this is why i refused to take my car to a dealer |
