Spring compressors
 

Did a search and didn't come up with anything useful. I will be installing springs soon and rather than pay someone to do it I am going to just purchase my own spring compressor, that I will likely use again in the future. I've been down the road of using cheap tools that break, getting frustrated, spending more money, and then eventually getting the job done later than planned.

So I found this one on ECS tuning, a site I used to frequent while I was really into VWs.

Looks to be the highest quality and beefiest mobile design out there, I'm just curious if it will fit our springs. It says it can accommodate 105mm up to 160mm wide, and 350mm tall. Unfortunately I can't find any specs on the swift springs.

I'm imagine most compressors are universal, but I want to make sure before I purchase. Any insight would be appreciated! Also, feel free to show what you used to get the job down without problems.:pics:

I'm not sure that is going to work. Like you mentioned, not sure if it would fit our spring, and the top hat on the strut is sorta shaped as a diamond, so I don't think the adapter would work. Those look like viable options, I get so nervous using Oreilly's rental tools though, because I know how many idiots rent those things prior to me and you never know when something is going to break. And I don't feel like taking a coil spring to the face.. I'll go with one of those more expensive ones I think.

I just recently used the O'Reilly rentals on big 4x4 springs for my Titan. Worked better than ones previously purchased at harbor freight. Actually very heavy duty.

Yep, O'Reilys and Auto Zone use name brand tools... not that cheap ebay crap. The thing is, why spend 100-200 on a spring compressor when you'll use it... what... maybe a couple of times?

That is a good point I suppose. Ill check and see what oreilly has in their arsenal and go from there.

+1. Spend the money you save on torque wrenches and other tools that you will use often.

Autozone will loan it out to you for free. Simply leave a deposit, when you take it back, you got your deposit back. It doesn't pay to own a spring compressor for the simple fact that it's not something you use very often.
